15 Actors That Should Totally Play Nightwing in the Upcoming Movie
Okay yes, we know that Batman and Nightwing have a significant age gap between them, and that Ben Affleck is nearly a decade younger to Donnie Yen’s 53. That being said…it’s Donnie Yen. He doesn’t really seem to age, and as Rogue One and XXX: Return of Xander Cage have shown, he can still kick tons of ass at his age. He may as well be a superhero, just ignore the age thing as best you can.
Fans have been asking for the Walking Dead and Voltron star to play Nightwing for a while now. At this point, the DC Extended Universe should take any opportunities they can to gain goodwill, and this would certainly get people more interested in this movie. Lee is no stranger to comic book films, having starred in RED 2 and the GI Joe films in recent years. Plus, there was the Magnificent 7 reboot last year to show that he’s extra proficient in hand to hand weapons. If nothing else, he’d lend himself well to the fight scenes and acrobatics. Recent years for Dick Grayson have seen him being a James Bond type spy, going around the world and stopping the forces of evil. His solo movie likely won’t address that part of his life, but even so, there’s no denying that for any scene that requires him to don a tux or flirt with some lovely folks, Henney would certainly clean up.

Dev Patel
Part of Nightwing's charm is how emotionally open and filled with joy he is compared to his predecessor. Patel's one such actor that brings that across in all his performances; you feel like you could trust him just from the moment you see him. Dick's emotions are as powerful as his moves, and Dev gives some of the best emotional performances out there.
Byung-Hun Lee
Lee is no stranger to comic book films, having starred in RED 2 and the GI Joe films in recent years. Plus, there was the Magnificent 7 reboot last year to show that he's extra proficient in hand to hand weapons. If nothing else, he'd lend himself well to the fight scenes and acrobatics.
Ludi Lin
Lin's chance of being in the Nightwing movie are more dependent on how the upcoming Power Rangers movie shakes out, since he'll be playing the Black Ranger in that. He's definitely got the body and the looks down, so there's no doubt he would do Dick justice.
Ryan Potter
Like with Yeun, fans have been asking for the Big Hero 6 star to be a Robin, though admittedly, Tim Drake is more who they have in mind for him. Then again, there's no real indication that Tim Drake exists in this universe, and Potter has enough of a playful streak in him to be a good Grayson, so why not?
Michael Cera
Lego Batman was a big hit, and Michael Cera's Robin was a surprising shine throughout the whole ordeal. Given the success of the Lego films, they may as well embrace it and have Cera reprise his role as a very eager and chipper Dick Grayson.
Luke Pasqualino
Everyone knows that part of Dick Grayson's appeal is that he's super attractive. Yeah, he's a nice guy and all, but he's also regarded as the sexiest man in the DC universe. Pasqualino is a good actor and all, but he's also super handsome, which would clinch most of his audition.
Jesus Castro Romero
The Spanish actor has only been around for about three years--he started his career in 2014 and has been in Spanish movies and shows since then. If WB doesn't want to take a chance on a big name actor, going with an up and comer is a smart move, and Romero could be that guy.
Ryan Guzman
Guzman is probably best known for his role in the fifth (and currently final) Step Up film. His dance moves would lend him well to acrobatics, and he also has the right look and sense of humor for Dick's playful persona.
Daniel Henney
Recent years for Dick Grayson have seen him being a James Bond type spy, going around the world and stopping the forces of evil. His solo movie likely won't address that part of his life, but even so, there's no denying that for any scene that requires him to don a tux or flirt with some lovely folks, Henney would certainly clean up.
Ki Hong Lee
If you've seen the Maze Runner films, you'll remember Lee as Minho, the guy who's way more competent in those films than he has any right to be. The third film is set to wrap things up next year, meaning his schedule will be free for him to don a mask and kick some ass.
Donald Glover
This one is more of a stretch than the others, sure, given that Donald Glover is set to play Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo movie and still has Atlanta season 2 to work on. That being said, between those two and Spider-Man Homecoming, it wouldn't entirely be out of the question for him to take on another big project and be an even bigger nerd.
Lewis Tan
He'll be making his way to screens in a few weeks thanks to Iron Fist, where he'll play the villain Zhou Cheng. Being a villain in a Marvel property can be a short term deal for many actors, and he's proven that he's got the chops for action scenes. If he's not around by the end of the show, WB may as well pick him up.
Donnie Yen
Okay yes, we know that Batman and Nightwing have a significant age gap between them, and that Ben Affleck is nearly a decade younger to Donnie Yen's 53. That being said... it's Donnie Yen. He doesn't really seem to age, and as Rogue One and XXX: Return of Xander Cage have shown, he can still kick tons of ass at his age. He may as well be a superhero, just ignore the age thing as best you can.
John Cho
It's John Cho. There needs to be no other justification for wanting him to be in a superhero movie beyond that, because he's great in everything he's been in, and he'd make that movie great.

Sometimes a writer, always a dork. When he isn't staring in front of a screen for hours, he's probably reading comics or eating Hot Pockets. So many of them.
