These Aren’t Nazis

Fans of Call of Duty’s zombie mode are probably used to their monsters being a bit more… European. When initially introduced as a bonus mode in World at War, the mode pit 1-4 players against endless rounds of the living dead fully decked-out in their Nazi uniforms. Infinite Warfare’s Zombies in Spaceland switches things up for something a bit more colorful and a lot more fun.

You’ll be fighting cheerleaders, dancers, jocks, and more pulled straight from the 80’s, a time when neon lights and bright fashion were all the rage. Adding in some more fun to the presentation is that you won’t be confined to some run-down battlefield either. You’ll be taking on these lively threats in the confines of a huge theme park full of various attractions and bonuses.

It Takes Place Inside a Horror Film

While the setting of Zombies in Spaceland seems pretty straight forward as to why they would’ve chosen something so zany, it’s actually worked into its own story in a neat way. Players will step into the shoes of four aspiring actors who are invited to some old theater by a man named Willard Wyler who is played by none other than Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman).

It is Wyler who then transports players into this weird, twisted theme park which is the backdrop for his upcoming horror film. You’ll have to survive and fight your way out in the most intense role of your entire acting career.

You’ll Play as One of Four 80’s Archetypes

call of duty: infinite warfare, zombies

There won’t be any Richtofen or any of the other usual suspects in Zombies in Spaceland. Instead, you’ll be taking control of one of four different characters who each fit the role of classic 80’s archetypes- the jock, the valley girl, the rapper, and the nerd. Of course, just like all of the extra weird expansions that fans have come to know and love from Treyarch’s own zombie modes, you can expect an impressive voice cast to bring these characters to life.

The valley girl will be voiced by Sasheer Zamata from Inside Amy Schumer and SNL. Jay Pharoah, another SNL alum, will be voicing the rapper. And the jock and nerd will be voiced by Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad) and Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers, Family Guy), respectively.

The Park Is Open

Spaceland, the theme park you’ll find yourself running around, is more than just a very pretty backdrop, it’s a true theme park through and through.  You’ll be able to utilize elements of the environment which means enjoying the arcades, setting traps, and even hopping on the rides.

You can jump on the Polar Peak Roller Coaster where you can pick off zombie targets for points and rewards, or hit the Afterlife Arcade where you can try out classic arcade and carnival games. There’s a lot going on inside, and it’s all there to make sure you have as much fun as you can, as you explode zombies into warm fleshy bits.

New Weapons

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Zombies in Spaceland

Call of Duty Zombies just wouldn’t feel right without some amazingly crazy weapons. Infinity Ward looks to be keeping up with the series’ wacky history by including a few new goodies of their own on top of the weapons fans have come to know and love. One example is an exploding boom box.

Not only does this bomb attract a swarm of the living dead similarly to the monkey grenades from Black Ops, it sends them into a dance frenzy as the amazing tunes come blaring out of the deadly speakers. Once the song finishes and everyone’s all danced out, it explodes in a fireball of awesomeness, taking all of the threatening park-goers along with it. Now that’s a cool weapon.

More details about this exciting game mode are sure to release as we move closer to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Nov. 4 release date. Stay tuned for future updates.
