Nathan “Nate” Drake
Obviously, there is no way we could ever forget Uncharted’s protagonist, Nathan Drake. The devilishly handsome, charismatic treasure hunter has taken players on adventures to the far reaches of the world. His wise-cracking attitude and perseverance were both entertaining and inspiring as he fought his way through impossible odds, and a lot of guns, to achieve his goals.
He had a few slips along the way, struggling to maintain his most important relationships and beat out his enemies. But when all was said and done, Nathan Drake was the perfect action hero for Sony’s flagship series. Whether it’s to El Dorado, some secret pirate utopia, or to the Tree of Life, there is nobody better to take the journey with.
Victor “Sully” Sullivan
Where would Nathan Drake be if it weren’t for his old pal and mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. From the moment you first meet him, he shows his father figure nature as he chastises you while helping you explore. He’s a funny man, who cares deeply for Nathan Drake and will do anything to help him.
Sully himself didn’t have the greatest life, nor did he have a family of his own. It was because of those reasons that he becomes so bonded to Uncharted’s protagonist and falls into the tale of one of the world’s greatest treasure hunters. Keeping Nate in line is no easy task, but we couldn’t have enjoyed watching Sully play the part any more. As the adventures come to an end, Sully will never be forgotten.
Elena Fisher
Elena Fisher is one seriously strong woman. And no, it’s not because she puts up with Nathan Drake. In fact, he should count himself lucky that he has someone like her in his life. This reporter is no stranger to the dangers of history and the world. Caught up in Nate’s quest to get to El Dorado, Elena proves to be highly capable by saving him from enemies and his own recklessness.
As time goes on, her and the treasure hunter who just won’t quit fall in love. That love is put to the test countless times thanks to Nate’s need for adventure, but Elena always comes along to show him what really matters. Her tough nature and loving presence helped to carry Uncharted through each adventure.
Chloe Frazer
If you’re a fan of Elena you may not be the biggest fan of Chloe Frazer. Her exotic looks and forward nature make her come across as someone trying to steal Nathan Drake from his true love, but that isn’t the case… not exactly, anyway. While she has no qualms flirting with her old flame (they dated before the events of the first Uncharted game), she’s all about her business.
Chloe is an excellent thief and one of the best drivers for hire out there. She is a bit reckless, something that she and Nathan have in common (probably why they dated before), but she is loyal and an asset to anyone. Everyone will have their own reason for remembering Chloe, but there’s no denying that she’s not easy to forget.
Tenzin
Nate owes his life to Tenzin, seriously. After surviving the train crash that left him injured into the Himalayan mountains, Nate was nursed back to health by Tenzin. This Tibetan explorer doesn’t just stop at saving Uncharted’s protagonist’s life, though. He then helps with the adventure by teaming up for puzzles and fighting alongside Nate to save his village.
Tenzin is the only major character in the Uncharted series who doesn’t speak English, but his silent demeanor just magnifies his character. This is a trusting man capable of great things, and his part in your adventure is one that deserves to be remembered.
Zoran Lazarevic
You’ll come across a lot of villains while playing through the Uncharted series, but none are so obviously evil as Zoran. I mean, just look at the guy. Large stature? Check. Black combat gear with weapons and ammunition strapped to it? Check. Bald head and horrible scar? Double check. This guy just oozes evil.
On top of his appearance, the final encounter with Zoran in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is no laughing matter. This is one seriously dangerous guy and he spends the entire game trying to kill Nate and everyone around him. Even if you hated him (which you probably did), it’s impossible to forget all of the harrowing encounters provided by Zoran and his militia.
Samuel “Sam” Drake
Up until the moment Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was revealed, fans didn’t even know Nathan had a brother. But his appearance isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Nate has finally settled down with Elena, but Sam’s arrival throws a wrench in their lives as he promises a new adventure wrought with pirate history and danger.
Of course, Sam is a lot more than just a catalyst to the newest game. He is a lot like his brother with the hardheaded nature of needing to do something. But he has a lot going on under the surface that keeps you guessing as he leaves Nate to make some really tough decisions.
Harry Flynn
Everyone loves a good betrayal. Okay, well love may be a strong word since it’s really difficult to like anyone who betrays you. But, a nice twist in the middle of a heist adds some intrigue and gives you a target to vent all of your hatred towards. That’s exactly what Harry Flynn is.
This basta… ahem… individual was a friend of Nate’s. They’ve completed heists together, gone on adventures, and have made some money in the past. So when he comes around asking Nate to join him on a new score, nobody expects him to double-cross our favorite treasure hunter and almost get him killed. What follows is a race to the Tree of Life as Harry continues to prove just how much of a jerk he really is. You gotta hand it to him, though, Harry really knows how to be the backstabbing traitor. A lot of lessons are learned by Nathan Drake’s encounter with this old friend, lessons that were never forgotten in later games.
Charlie Cutter
Charlie Cutter is one of those characters who instantly becomes memorable after some fantastic deed. Early on in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Cutter is believed to be a nemesis. You couldn’t be blamed for thinking this. After all, he beats the living crap out of Nate and even shoots both him and sully in the chest. Of course, that was an elaborate ruse, as Cutter will prove throughout the game that he is an invaluable ally.
By the end of Uncharted 3, Cutter will sacrifice everything to help his friends Sully and Nate. He is the epitome of a true friend, loyal to the end. Perhaps Harry can learn a lesson from him.
Nadine Ross
The world first got a look at Nadine when she beat up Nathan Drake in an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer. This mercenary is a vicious woman with one goal in mind: obtain the treasure of Libertalia at all costs. She endeavors to make good on that goal with subterfuge, wiles, and strength, showing that she is not to be underestimated.
Her dealings with Sully and Nate throughout Uncharted 4 put the danger of Nadine at the forefront. She is much more than what she lets on, and the intimidating mark she leaves on the Uncharted story will not be forgotten anytime soon.
