Parappa the Rapper Gets Remastered
PaRappa the Rapper is a popular rhythm game launched on the original PlayStation 20 years ago, back in 1996. It’s become a cult classic since then that has a special place in the hearts of many, so it comes as a total treat that a remaster for the game is on its way.
Coming sometime in 2017, PaRappa the Rapper: Remastered delivers polished visuals and 4K resolution support, complete with the traditional gameplay we’ve come to love. On top of that, Patapon and LocoRoco are also getting the remaster treatment.
Let it Die Launches on PlayStation 4, Completely Free of Charge
Grasshopper Manufacture, the creative minds behind titles like Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead, pulled off a pretty sweet stunt at this year’s PSX event.
Their latest title Let it Die was originally announced back in 2013, when is was still called Lily Bergamo. The project underwent various changes and complete rehashes, leading many to believe the game would never see the light of day. Grasshopper Manufacture not only announced that Let it Die was still a thing, but as soon as it was announced, they released the game. Instantaneously. Completely free of charge.
That’s nothing short of unheard of within the gaming industry, and its that surprising feat that made the Let it Die reveal as popular as it has become over the past few days. We’d even go as far as to say this was one of the most surprising presentations in recent memory.
Uncharted Gets New Standalone DLC in the Form of The Lost Legacy
Even though Nathan Drake’s story has been told, there are still aspects within the world of Uncharted that deserve to be told all the same.
In Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, we follow another pretty well-known character, namely Chloe Frazer. She enlists mercenary Nadine Ross, who made an appearance in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The duo must take to the mountains of India in an attempt to recover an ancient artifact that is about to fall into the hands of a ruthless war profiteer.
The reveal gameplay clip showcases the standalone DLC, with the series’ trademark stealth, mystery, and action taking center stage. In some ways, The Lost Legacy can be compared to The Last of Us’ Left Behind DLC in that it fleshes out some characters in an exciting new, standalone story. We don’t know too much about it yet, but we’re sure more bits of information will trickle through as the months progress.
Crash Bandicoot Is Back, Baby!
The Crash Bandicoot series is a fan-favorite platforming franchise developed by Naughty Dog. Despite being a massive gaming icon and having shaped a large chunk of the developer’s credit, as well as heavily influencing video games ever since its original release practically launched a console and reinvigorated the platforming genre by raising it up to modern standards, Crash Bandicoot has been noticeably absent the past few years.
Everyone’s favorite marsupial has (rather unsuccessfully) hopped between developers and platforms, but all of that seems to be behind us now. Crash returns exclusively to the PlayStation 4, with Naughty Dog bringing the three original titles back as remasters in the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy re-release.
Featuring modern visuals, all three games are rebuilt from the ground up on the same engine as Skylanders: Imaginators. The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is slated for a 2017 release.
The Last of Us: Part II Is Real
While we all anticipated the possibility of a sequel, few people expected it to see its official announcement at PSX 2016.
Continuing the legacy of the original, The Last of Us: Part II puts the players in the shoes of Ellie, still faithfully accompanied by the original protagonist, Joel. This time around, its story is largely centered around revenge, and while we know little about how this sequel will differ, it’s clear that The Last of Us: Part II picks up a few years after the ending of The Last of Us.
Still, knowing a sequel is well into development has us very excited for a plethora of reasons. Many considered The Last of Us as one of the best games of the last generation, and knowing Naughty Dog, its sequel will merely improve upon the aspects we already know and love.
