Sony is after our wallets once again with another huge Big in Japan PSN sale that celebrates the best Japanese-developed games out there.
If you’re looking for the best games with the lowest prices, we’ve hand-picked a couple that you all should definitely check out. And also, the sale comes to an end on May 8, so get out there and grab these while you still can.
Judgment
Original Price: $59.99
Sale Price: $29.99
Judgment came out last year on PS4 as an exclusive and is a spin-off of the popular and wacky Yakuza franchise. You play as a top detective who is attempting to solve crimes while also dealing with the dangerous Yakuza of Tokyo.
Judgment is essentially a modern version of Ace Attorney but there’s lot of fighting involved –you can even throw bikes and traffic cones and run on walls to kick bad guys in the face.
If you’ve never played a Yakuza game before and are interested in finding a way into the series, Judgment isn’t a bad place to start, especially now that it’s part of the Big in Japan sale right now.
It’s a very compelling story and it’s always entertaining to be able to explore a fictionalized version of Tokyo.
Dragon Quest XI
Original Price: $59.99
Sale Price: $29.99
The latest entry in Square Enix’s long-running JRPG franchise, Dragon Quest XI, features a sprawling world with relatable characters that actually develop throughout the lengthy narrative.
When it came out for PS4 last year, we even gave it a 5/5 in our review. Here’s what we said about it:
“Its gorgeous world is a joy to explore, and the series’ trademark sense of quirkiness seeps into every aspect. The game can function as a great JRPG for newcomers, but there’s still enough depth to appease longtime fans.”
It mixes the best of modern and retro JRPG systems, and since we’re all stuck inside anyway, you might want to dive into a dense game such as this, especially since it’s on sale.
World of Final Fantasy
Original Price: $24.99
Sale Price: $12.49
OK, World of Final Fantasy has got to be one of the most underrated Final Fantasy spin-offs of all time. I adored it when it released back in 2016 and found it to be quite unique in the way that you can collect monsters to add to your team and then stack them atop one another.
The game introduces players to a brother and sister who have lost their memories and end up on a life-changing adventure. There are tons of references to the history of Final Fantasy, with you being able to meet up with some iconic characters like Lightning, Cloud, and Yuna.
If you don’t want to plop down the cash just yet during this Big in Japan sale, it’s highly recommended that you download the demo first, just to see if it suits your tastes.
Resident Evil Franchise
Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 are currently on sale on the PSN Store for a whopping total of only $57.
You can basically experience almost the entirety of Capcom’s survival horror franchise for less than a regular-priced video game, which is just bonkers.
It can be a confusing series to jump into as a newcomer, but we recommend trying out Resident Evil 2 if you want a more modern take on the series. RE 4 is also a great pick as it mixes action perfectly with horror, and you can’t go wrong with the original either.
Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe Edition
Original Price: $49.99
Sale Price: $24.99
Have you ever just wanted to feel really badass while playing a video game? Devil May Cry 5 will give you that feeling throughout the entirety of its action-packed campaign.
Thanks to the three playable main characters having a distinct and enjoyable combat system, DMC 5 feels like you’re playing three totally different games side-by-side.
The music is rocking, the combat is buttery smooth, and you can attack guys with a motorcycle –come on, what else could you ask for?
Make sure to pick up some of these games during the Big in Japan PSN sale before it ends on May 8.
