Here are the five best announcements from Nintendo’s E3 2019 direct presentation that caught our attention.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Has a Sequel in the Works

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel, Nintendo Switch

Nintendo gave us a first look at the newly announced sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild at the end of their E3 Direct.

A cutscene set after the events of Breath of the Wild shows Link and Zelda traveling through what is presumed to be a dark basin under Hyrule castle, discovering a decayed corpse – possibly of someone significant.

This daunting setup for the sequel to Breath of the Wild has us excited, especially with the first game’s status as one of the best open world games of all time.

Banjo & Kazooie and The Hero Are Coming to Smash

Banjo-Kazooie, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch

Today Nintendo revealed not just one new playable Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character but two. The Direct first showed off The Hero from Dragon Age coming this summer, then they trolled everyone with a clever trailer replacing the presumed silhouette of Banjo and Kazooie with Duck Hunt.

Much to the relief of everyone we eventually saw the real duo make an appearance, and you can expect to see them in the game this fall.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Switch

The Witcher 3, Nintendo Switch

CD Projekt RED is on a roll this week after the much talked about Cyberpunk 2077 showcase featuring Keanu Reeves. Now, the successful third Witcher game is making its way to the Nintendo Switch.

It’s not yet clear how well the game will perform on the Switch’s limited hardware, but it’s very likely the game will have some big visual changes as well as a resolution downscale from previous versions to make the game run smoothly.

Either way, Switch fans will finally have the chance to experience this critically acclaimed adventure and take it with them on the go later this year.

Animal Crossing Gets a Title and Delayed Release Date, Along with a Confirmation of Multiplayer

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The new Animal Crossing game on Nintendo Switch is called Animal Crossing New Horizons, an appropriate title as the game takes place on a gorgeous island.

The game received a new trailer and Nintendo announced the game’s delayed release date for March 20 next year, as the game was originally scheduled for 2019 release. The trailer also revealed a few main gameplay aspects, including a look at the game’s multiplayer element which is vague so far.

After traveling via the suspicious Nook Inc. Getaway Package charter flight to the deserted island, players set up a tent and build their village up from scratch. The game puts a spin on the traditional concept of Animal Crossing, but after watching the trailer its clear many elements fans love will return and core gameplay will stay unchanged.

Notably, objects can be placed almost everywhere on the island, so players are no longer restricted by the limits of indoors and outdoors.

Perhaps the best small feature shown in the new gameplay trailer is the addition of real paths, which avoid the annoying need to cover up the ground with patterns like in New Leaf.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Coming to Switch

spyro reignited trilogy, review, is it good, achievements

The popular remake of the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch after a lot of speculation and demand since the Reignited Trilogy first released elsewhere.

The anticipated game even got a release date in the next few months, and everyone’s favorite purple dragon will be coming to Switch this year on Sept. 3.

Even more great games are getting the Switch treatment such as Alien Isolation and Dauntless, so Switch users have plenty of existing games to look forward to as well as the likes of big titles such as Pokémon and Super Mario Maker 2 on the horizon.
