Ghost Recon Breakpoint – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the direct follow-up to 2017’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, this time taking place entirely on the fictional island of Auroa.

As the Ghosts, you’re cut off from any support and have to do battle with a rogue faction of Ghosts called The Wolves, led by Cole Walker, who was introduced in Wildland’s DLC.

Breakpoint uses many similar systems and mechanics, but this time there’s a much larger emphasis on survival. Enemies are much more diverse with access to the same weapons and tactics you have.

You’ll need to collect resources to craft things like bandages and do regular weapon checks to make sure you’re keeping maintenance up on your guns.

In addition, as your character takes damage to certain parts of their body, they’re mobility will be reduced.

So taking damage to your legs will severely reduce your mobility. By the same token, you need to manage hunger, hydration, and fatigue, which can all affect your mobility as well.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint still has that co-operative focus, and if you have a group of friends to play the game with its tactical combat looks like it’ll be a blast.

Indivisible – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

Indivisible is a highly-anticipated indie game that’s finally seeing the light of day in October.

The action-RPG is developed by Lab Zero games, the makers of Skullgirls, with music by Hiroki Kikuta, best known for his work on Secret of Mana.

Indivisible’s story is heavily influenced by Asian mythology and has you playing as Anja, a young girl who embarks on a journey to learn the truth about her mystical powers.

Interestingly, Indivisible’s gameplay looks like a unique fusion of Metroidvania and Valkyrie Profile.

You’ll explore the world in 2D platforming style, while battles play out as they do in Valkyrie Profile, with four different characters whose attacks are each mapped to a face button.

Indivisible sports a phenomenal aesthetic and sense of style, and it’s a fusion of genres that we really don’t see all that often.

Concrete Genie – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

Concrete Genie is the first of two PS4 exclusives in October, and it’s a wildly imaginative little game. You play as a young boy named Ash, living in the small town of Denska.

When bullies steal his notebook Ash tries to get the pages back, and along the way discovers a paintbrush that can bring his creations to life.

At its core Concrete Genie is a puzzle game, requiring you to draw different creations and apply different colors for various effects.

The entire time you’ll need to avoid the bullies roaming the town, and you’ll gain more and more access to the town of Denska.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

The Trails series is one of the most well-developed, if not overlooked, series of JRPGs. Trails of Cold Steel III carries on that legacy, taking place five years after the end of Trails of Cold Steel II and the Erebonian Civil War.

The series’ main character, Rean Schwarzer, now serves as an instructor of the new Class VII at the Thors Military Branch Campus.

Story is still at the heart of Cold Steel III, but there are a variety of additions as well, including a slick visual upgrade.

A host of new characters are introduced, and Rean can now issue Brave Orders during combat that can affect your entire party with buffs, or all enemies with debuffs.

The third game also has an emphasis on speeding up battles, with a sleeker more intuitive battle UI, faster transitions between battle and exploration, and a turbo button from the very start.

If you haven’t jumped on board with the Trails series after the last few years, now’s the best time to do so.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

Call of Duty is arguably the biggest game franchise to ever exist, and Modern Warfare is essentially a reboot of the franchise’s most popular sub-series.

Modern Warfare isn’t a complete redefining of the series, but it does make some interesting and dynamic changes. Unlike Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare will feature a full-fledged single-player campaign that doubles down on realism.

Similarly, multiplayer has seen some changes to enhance the realism as well. There’s a focus on map exploration, door breaching, and even a realism mode that completely removes the HUD.

The popular Spec Ops mode returns once again, sharing a narrative with the campaign, and letting you take on a number of missions co-operatively with friends.

Strangely the mode is a platform exclusive on PS4 for the first year, but hey, if you’re reading this you’re probably playing on PS4 anyway.

MediEvil – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

The second PS4 exclusive of the month is a full-blown remake of the cult classic, MediEvil.

The game has you playing as an undead hero named Sir Daniel Fortesque, who has to take down the evil sorcerer, Zarok, who killed him 100 years ago.

The original MediEvil was an early 3D game released in 1998, and with that came a host of issues that typically plague early 3D games.

Although fun at the time, a host of control and camera issues make it a rough experience to go back to.

Luckily, the PS4 remake directly addresses those issues, updating the game with a more modern camera system and control scheme.

MediEvil doesn’t really add on new content, but the 4K upgrade looks absolutely gorgeous, and the gameplay modernizations should make this a PS4 exclusive to watch out for.

The Outer Worlds – New PS4 Games (October 2019)

The Outer Worlds has gained serious attention since its announcement, and for good reason.

The brand new IP from Obsidian Entertainment emulates a lot of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, dropping players into a wacky galaxy where corporations rule supreme.

The Outer Worlds features a ton of player choice and a number of factions that you’ll build or lose reputation with. The factions you choose to help can drastically affect the main narrative and the game’s ending.

On the gameplay front, The Outer Worlds is a huge step up from the shooting of other action-RPGs, feeling closer to a typical shooter with some weighty weapons.

The game also has a dynamic companion system, with NPC allies that’ll help you both in combat and outside of it. Each companion also has their own storyline and set of quests to pursue.

By all accounts, The Outer Worlds might be the action-RPG that fans have been waiting for, but we’ll have to see when it releases later this month.

That does it for our list of all PS4 releases in October 2019. Let us know what you’re most excited for in the comments down below.
