Sony and Kojima. Kojima and Sony. Shaking hands and making games and generally making the internet lose its mind tonight. Yes. These two forces are combining to create a PlayStation exclusive title now that Kojima’s time with Konami is done. But most of all, Kojima has a new logo. Let’s take a look.
This is the ink blot test of logos. It will dive into your psyche in a way only Kojima could. First off, there’s definitely some Outer Heaven going on here. The familiar black and white skull motif rests inside what appears to be a knight helmet, though. Then there’s some geometric wizardry going on, the kind that required the investigatory assistance of some professional symbologists. Tom Hanks was busy, so I had the Twinfinite Staff give me their best uneducated guesses.
The logo received an assortment of analysis. Some saw bullet holes, others named handcuffs, gears, and gun triggers. I suspect these reflect the inner psyches of my coworkers, a highly disturbing thought.
I dug deeper, we had to find the true meaning of these various spheres. “Heelys,” offered staff writer Travis, who has since been fired.
Some said the rear apparatus resembles a telescope. I wagered it might be more of a microscope. Some sort of scope is involved here, of this we are certain.
Other suggestions included randomly shouted strings of words and indecipherable grunts.
“Spartans. Mohawk. Ryse: Son of Rome!”
“Cyborgs! Astronauts! Medieval undead astronauts!”
They were clearly spiraling. The image was too strong for them. I quickly wiped all traces of it, then ordered them all Kojima Production t-shirts for the holidays.
