Kiefer Sutherland
Filling in for David Hayter as the Big Boss (or Venom Snake, as he’s sometimes known) in MGS V is TV’s most famous torturer, Jack Bauer himself. Players first got a chance to hear how he’d sound as the main man in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This isn’t Sutherland’s first time in the voice acting gig; he’s guest starred on a few episodes of The Simpsons, played Jack in the 24 video game (yes, that actually exists), and was in 2010’s Call of Duty: World at War as Sergeant Roebuck. It’s not known for sure whether or not he’ll play Big Boss in future Metal Gear Solid games (or even if they’ll still be making future games post MGS V).
Robin Atkin Downes
You’ve heard Downes’ voice in plenty of games. He was the voice of multiple criminals in Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3’s King Radovid V the Stern, Minh Young Kim in Gears of War, and the Prince in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. He returns to Kojima’s series once again in Metal Gear Solid V as Boss’s buddy Kazuhira Miller, who players last saw in Ground Zeroes from last year.
James Horan
Returning as the evil Skull Face from Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is Kentucky born actor James Horan. He had a good two year run on General Hospital back in the late 1980s, but he first made his way into the video game voice acting gig in 2000 with the game Forgotten Realms: Baldur’s Gate II-Shadows of Amn as Lord Logan Coprith. Since then, he’s voiced characters like Jack Ryder in the Batman Arkham games, Galen Agaris in Dark Cloud 2, and Rickard Lusoff in Knights of the Old Republic.
Stephanie Joosten
Joosten is a relative newcomer to voice acting, and just acting in general. Before her role as the… casually dressed Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V, she was in the TV miniseries Do S Deka earlier this year and as Mary in Gekitusi. You can also hear her sing during “Quiet’s Theme” in the MGS V soundtrack. She ended up not knowing that she was auditioning for MGS V, and when she got the part, the character was modeled after Joosten’s likeness.
Tara Strong
At this point, it’d be probably easier to list who Tara Strong hasn’t voiced. 90s kids will remember her mainly as the voice of Timmy Turner from Fairly Oddparents, Batgirl from Batman: The Animated Series, Raven from Teen Titans, or Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls. More recently, she was the voice of Ferra in Mortal Kombat X, Harley Quinn in Injustice and Batman: Arkham City-onwards, and Twilight Sparkle in My Little Pony. In Metal Gear Solid V, she returns to her role of Paz Ortega Andrande from Ground Zeroes.
Christopher Randolph
Randolph is a name Metal Gear Solid fans have gotten well acquainted with by now. He’s probably the second most well known voice actor for the series after Hayter himself. The man has voiced Huey Emmerich and Hal “Otacon” Emmerich since the original back in 1998. He returned to the role of Otacon in Super Smash Bros Brawl back in 2008, but first voiced Huey with the release of MGS: Peace Walker for the PSP in 2010.
Troy Baker
Troy Baker needs no introduction at this point. Like with Strong, it’d be probably easier to list the characters who he hasn’t voiced. In the past year, he’s showed up as Delsin from Infamous Second Son, Talion in Shadow of Mordor, the Arkham Knight in the titular Batman game, and will be in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 as Nathan Drake’s older brother Sam. For Metal Gear Solid V, Baker is making his debut to the series as Ocelot.
Piers Stubbs
Making his debut into video game voice acting with Metal Gear Solid V is British actor Piers Stubbs. He’s the voice of Eli, a young kid with a connection to Big Boss.
Antony Del Rio
Antony Del Rio is someone League of Legends players may recognize as the voice of the Champion Ekko. For non League players, he’s been in God of War: Ghost of Sparta as the young Kratos and Kid Icarus: Uprising as Pit. He’s returning to Metal Gear Solid V as Chico Libre, who made his first appearance with Peace Walker in 2010.
Jay Tavare
Jay Tavare has been in films like Adaptation, Pathfinder, and Human Centipede 3. As far as games go, his previous work is only Gun and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. With Metal Gear Solid V, Tavare provides the voice and motion capture for Code Talker, a man Snake encounters in the 1980s.
