PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Last month for PS Plus, Sony gave subscribers three free games including Maneater, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Greedfall. While the offical list for February 2021 has yet to be revealed by Sony, we have some PS Plus predictions as to what those free games might be in the meantime.

Usually a larger game headlines the list, and for next month we suspect Marvel’s Avengers could be a likely inclusion.

Marvel’s Avengers didn’t actually release that long ago, coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC back in September 2020. Next gen versions of the game were then promised for free at launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but were delayed into 2021.

Square Enix reportedly lost a ton of money with the release of Marvel’s Avengers, stating a couple months ago the flop of its release aided in the company seeing a ¥6.5B loss.

It therefore seems likely for Sony and Square Enix to pair up and offer the PS5 version of the title for free upon release of the version sometime in early 2021.

Square Enix could then attempt to recoup some of the losses via DLC purchases spurred on by a larger playerbase getting the base game for free.

The Smaller Game – Thumper

PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Next up, we have a PS Plus prediction for a smaller indie title that might be included on PS Plus next month.

We predict Thumper from indie developer Drool is looking like a very possible pick if not next month, then sometime very soon.

Thumper is a ‘rhythm-violence’ game with PSVR functionality that has the player use a speeding space beetle to jump about on a luminescence track to hit buttons and bumpers to increase speed and avoid enemies.

Sony loves killing two birds with one stone by including games on PS Plus that work on multiple generations or platforms, so the fact that Thumper also has a PSVR mode makes it a tempting pick.

It also has been included on PS Plus in Asia in the past as well back in October 2018. If Sony has chosen to offer it for PS Plus in one continent, it’s much more likely for that game to show up for other continents later on as well.

Sony should announce the offical picked PS Plus games in the next week or so. Make sure to check back with Twinfinite to see what you’ll be getting for free.
