“Wellcome Leon!”
As players make their way through Raccoon City’s Police Department, they’ll eventually come to the main office where Leon’s welcome party would have been held.
Decorations can be seen on the desks, and Leon’s new coworkers even hung up a sign for the occasion.
Fans of the original will notice, however, that a correction has been made from the original, where the “Welcome Leon sign was misspelled as “Wellcome Leon.”
The spelling has been corrected, but a space can still be seen in “Welcome” and an additional “L” can be found on a desk on the left side of the room.

M4T-ILD4 and MD3-H3VN
Both Leon and Claire are partial to specific phrases and names.
Leon’s gun is named Matilda, likely a reference to the 1994 film “Leon: The Professional” which starred main characters named Leon and Matilda, while Claire carries on a family tradition of wearing clothing bearing the phrase “Made in Heaven.”
Each easter egg goes a bit further in the Resident Evil 2 Remake though. If players take the time to explore the parking lot outside the gas station, they’ll be able to examine the license plates of both characters’ vehicles at the start of each play through.
Leon’s License plate reads M4T-ILD4, which can be taken to spell Matilda. Likewise, Claire’s license plate reads MD3-H3VN with the IN for Indiana in the center, allowing it to be read as Made in Heaven.

The True Heroes
There are several easter eggs in the Raccoon City Police Department, but one of the nicer ones pays credit to members of the Resident Evil 2 Remake’s localization team.
After reaching a pedestal with three indentations, players can aim at the lower part of the pedestal to read the series of names inscribed on its sides.
Each is a member of the localization team, and the pedestal’s central inscription notes them as heroes worthy of praise for their contributions.

The Rising Rookie
In the original Resident Evil 2, players could examine Wesker’s desk in the Raccoon City Police Department 50 times straight to reveal a hidden image of Rebecca Chambers, titled “Rising Rookie.”
The image can still be found in Wesker’s desk in the Remake, but the requirements to get it are a little different. After searching the left side drawer of Wesker’s desk, it will appear that there isn’t anything else to examine.
If players examine it one more time however, they’ll find the “Rising Rookie” roll of film. It can then be developed for a higher res version if the original image.

Jill’s Friend
In the original game, players could examine a photo on Jill Valentine’s desk that hinted at a friend who she looked happy with. The image was too difficult to make out with the game’s graphics, so most assumed it was an unnamed boyfriend.
In the remake though, the image can be seen clearly and was brought to people’s attention via social media prior to the game’s release, and it left many who were in on the obscure reference laughing.
Instead of a boyfriend, or even a human being, the image in the Remake actually shows a picture of a labrador. Whether this was intentional on Capcom’s part or just a stock image used in place of the reference is unknown, but it’s still a nice nod to a small past meme.

A Very Important Date
At the start of the game, players can find a number of different notes and signs posted to the front door of the gas station.
Most are simple stock signs saying things like “Yes, We’re Open” and “No Smoking,” but one found at the top right corner of the door has a deeper meaning.
Initially read as a “Now Hiring” sign, the phone number at the bottom can actually be read as a date line in the Japanese style: 1998-1-29, or Jan. 29, 1998. The date refers to the release date of the original Resident Evil 2.

“We Do It!”
When the Resident Evil 2 Remake was officially announced with a YouTube video back in 2015, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi made the exciting announcement to fans while wearing a now iconic “We Do It!” T-shirt.
The phrase became emblematic of the entry finally receiving a remake after so many years, and as such a reference to it can be found in the Resident EVIL 2 Remake proper.
In the Raccoon City Police Department, players can find a monument to past officers with a bust on top of it. The monument bears a plaque honoring those who have served the force.
At the very bottom of the plaque, the words “We Do It!” can be found.

Photographer for Hire
While out and about on the streets of Raccoon City, players can find a number of restaurant signs and flyers referencing past and present Capcom games, as well as their creators.
One of the more bitter sweet ones pays homage to Frank West of Capcom Vancouver’s now defunct Dead Rising series, though.
In the window of an abandoned building, players can find a flyer bearing the name of Dead Rising’s recurring protagonist Frank West, the photographer who braved the original game’s outbreak to expose it to the world.
The poster lists him as a photographer for hire, and shows his picture at the bottom.

Join the RPD
Prior to the events of both Resident Evil 1 and 2, it appears the Raccoon City Police Department were trying to bring on new staff.
Found in a chained-up room requiring bolt cutters to open, a poster laying out the information for a S.T.A.R.S. hiring event can be found on the wall with the first Resident Evil’s Brad Vicker’s acting as the face of the organization.
It’s worth noting that Brad was referred to by his comrades as “Chicken Heart” for his ability to quickly fold under pressure, and that he was rather decisively squashed into red paste by Nemesis in Resident Evil 3.

“The Shining”
A callback to the iconic horror film, this easter egg is a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment found while players take the role of Sherry Berkin near the end of Claire’s campaign.
As players evade the corrupt and insane Police Chief Irons, they must do everything they can to get away from him and escape the area.
Just as they’re about to escape through a locked door however, the police chief smashes the door open with the swing of an axe, taunting Sherry and the players with the threat of “I’m coming for you Sherry!”
It’s quick and easy to miss in the chaos, but a solid shout out to Stephen King’s horror masterpiece all the same.
