Eva is Back for Festival of the Lost 2019, Make Sure You’re Ready
Destiny 2’s favorite event NPC and guardian grandma, Eva Levante, is back once again to fill the Tower with some spoOooOOky cheer for Festival of the Lost 2019.
This year’s Festival of the Lost seems pretty similar to the last. Eva Levante will show up somewhere on the tower, and players will be beckoned to her from the director to participate in the festivities.
She’ll offer limited time items and cosmetics such as the Halloween Masks and offer up some rewards (see below) in exchange for some candy.
In order to find the candy though, you’ll need to make sure you have a mask equipped. Presumably you’ll get a generic mask to start with, and you can earn new ones by trading in candy. You can also use masks from previous years if you have them.
For all you New Light players though, there is a small power level requirement. You need to be at least 770 in order to interact with Eva. It’s kind of a trivial one, but nonetheless, if you’re creating a new character to possibly double or triple down on the rewards, note that you got to bump it up at least a little to do so.
Also another general note before we move on: Don’t dismantle your candy unless you’re sure you want to ditch all of it. You can’t individually dismantle any of the candy you get such as the Chocolate Strange Coins. If you dismantle one, the whole stack is gone. So yeah… just hang onto them until it’s over.
The Haunted Forest Returns
The Haunted Forest is the only thing that the Infinite Forest from Curse of Osiris has ever been good for. What a waste of a great idea… Well at least in Halloween it does serve a pretty awesome purpose.
The Haunted Forest is a timed activity where you have 15 minutes to delve as deep into the forest as you can in hopes of encountering a spooky boss. The Haunted Forest will be open to all who participate in Festival of the Lost 2019 and is a 750 power level activity.
The Haunted Forest should be a good way to complete bounties for Eva, get candy, and potentially some additional loot and rewards. What’s extra nice there will be both a matchmade, and private version of the activity (Firewalled).
Plus it’s just a very fun activity and should be good to break up the monotony of the routine that Season 8 kicked off with Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying.
Special Mods and Power
In addition to the return of the Haunted Forest, there are going to be new mods that will help increase your effectiveness during these activities.
There are three new mods: Higher Purpose, Vampiric Touch, and Energetic Assassin. They look really powerful and fun but sadly they are only active during the event and inside the Haunted Forest.
We don’t know yet how to get them, but it’s likely going to either be from Eva and/or random drops from the Forest.
They can be equipped to your special Masquerader’s Helmet which is what you put your Mask over and will increase your power while the event is active.
Here’s what they do:
Higher Purpose
- Significant damage resistance while airborne.
- Significantly increased damage to all enemies.
- Increases the drop chance of Heavy ammo on kill.
Vampiric Touch
- Significantly increased damage to challenging enemies.
- Precision kills trigger health regeneration.
- Increases the drop chance of Heavy Ammo on kill.
Energetic Assassin
- Precision kills grant grenade and melee energy.
- Significantly increased damage to Terrors.
- Increases the drop chance of Heavy Ammo on kill.
Rewards
Sure running around looking like the Drifter is funny, but the main goal of any hardcore Destiny 2 player is to get some loot.
This year the main prize seems to be the return of the Braytech Werewolf Legendary Auto Rifle. You can chase a masterworked version of the gun which has curated rolls or roll your own perks throughout the event.
In addition to that event exclusive weapon, expect there to be a showering of other useful items like Enhancement Cores, Modules, Mods etc. if previous recent Destiny 2 events are anything to go off of.
There’s also new cosmetic items of course including ghost shells, a hilarious Tombstone emote, Broom Sparrow, universal ornaments and more. There won’t be a special holiday engram this time so it’s not entirely clear yet if Eva can drop them or if they will be exclusive to Eververse.
New Triumphs and One That’s REDACTED
Finally, as is usual for all Destiny 2 events, there will be new triumphs to chase during Festival of the Lost.
In the most recent TWAB, it was confirmed that going forward formally zero-point triumphs would start to have a score.
It was not made explicitly clear that Festival of the Lost 2019 would have scored triumphs though. We’ll find out tomorrow and hopefully for those looking to increase their score, that will be the case.
Bungie listed the new triumphs, but one was redacted. Mysterious!
Will this be something related to the new dungeon or the exotic Xenophage? As far as we know both of those are not related to Festival of the Lost. Maybe the quest for Thunderlord will return? It wasn’t mentioned anywhere so that seems unlikely.
Your guess is as good as ours. We want to hope for a new secret exotic quest, but we’re not going to hold our breath. We’ll be happy to be wrong though.
If you want every little morsel of detail to get ready for Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost 2019 tomorrow, you can check out Bungie’s prep guide. We’ll also have plenty of guides tomorrow for the event to answer all your FAQs.
