Best Far Cry 5 Guns for Hire Companions: All 9 Ranked

9. Adelaide Drubman

Guns For Hire

Every guns for hire companion in Far Cry 5 serves a purpose, and each suit a different style of play. Some take the guns blazing approach, while others focus on stealth and taking enemies out one by one.

Adelaide is last on the list because she doesn’t do either of those well. When called, Adelaide will come pick you up in her chopper, which has extremely low health, and take you to your destination. This is great for traveling somewhere quickly, but that’s about where it starts and ends for Adelaide Drubman.

Not being combat focused isn’t a bad thing, but when you’re caught in a large battle, you’re going to want a different companion by your side to help out.

8. Sharky Boshaw

Guns for Hire

Sharky’s weapon of choice is a flamethrower, which can be great for crowd control on large groups of enemies. However, fire in a Far Cry game is very dangerous as it spreads quickly and tends to do more harm than good. He has a huge potential to end up making things more chaotic, rather than helping you secure an easy victory in battle.

Sharky has the Fire It Up and Shatter Proof buffs, which help with reduced explosive damage and extra attack power. He is not a bad companion by any means, but using him opens up the potential for things to go wrong much more quickly than other companions.

7. Boomer

Guns for Hire

Boomer, the faithful dog companion received extremely early on, is well-rounded in combat, stealth, and scouting out enemies. He can tag nearby enemies with the Pointer ability, and can retrieve weapons from enemies for players with the Retriever ability.

Unfortunately, Boomer is the weakest of the other animal companions players will receive later in the game, making him less useful in later scenarios. For the harder battles, players are going to want to grab Cheeseburger, or Peaches when the going gets tough.

6. Nick Rye

Guns for hire

Nick Rye is the pilot of the Kimberlite HP-18-160 plane that can provide bombing, and strafing runs on large groups of enemies. This is extremely useful for taking out groups of enemies that are giving players trouble. Clearing out a large street, vehicles, or open-fields is Nick Rye’s specialty. What puts Nick above the others on this list is his ability to deal with both infantry, and vehicles making him more versatile than some of the others on this list.

Unlike Adelaide’s, Nick’s chopper can’t pick players up for travel purposes, but what he lacks in flight hospitality, he makes up for in weaponry.

5. Jess Black

Guns for hire

Jess Black is a stealth focused companion, using her bow and arrows to pick off enemies from a distance while staying hidden. She is an ideal candidate for players looking to sneak around and stay concealed. Her Concealment ability, will make it harder for enemies to detect her. Her other ability, Feral Friendly, will make wild animals see her as one of their own, making her extremely useful for animal hunting as well. This is useful when trying to gather resources from animals in the Montana wild.

Jess struggles once she is detected, and isn’t great in open combat scenarios. She has difficulty taking down vehicles and armored enemies, so players really need to double down on stealth when bringing along Jess Black.

4. Grace Armstrong

Guns for hire

The sniper wielding bad-ass Grace Armstrong will give players covering fire from a distance. Simply mark a target you want taken down and Grace will move into position and eliminate them for you. Her lethal precision makes her an excellent choice for those looking for a powerful ally on the battlefield.

Grace’s Boom Boom ability will scare enemies every time one of her sniper shots are fired, giving players yet another advantage in combat. She also has a laser sight on her sniper, allowing for players to easily distinguish her from possible enemy snipers.

Grace’s weakness is that her sniper is not equipped with a silencer, so stealth is not an option for her, however with her power precision. players will be able to take enemies head on, making her an excellent choice in combat.

3. Peaches

Guns for Hire

Peaches the mountain lion is useful in both stealth and open-combat scenarios. She is useful in fields and in the wilderness thanks to her Stalk ability which allows her to stay hidden while moving through tall grass, and when she gets close to an enemy she can use her Pounce ability to silently take them down.

Peaches can hold her own in open-combat, and has more health than Boomer, which makes her more useful than some of the other stealth companions. She has less health than Cheeseburger the bear, so she will go down relatively easily, making that her biggest drawback.

2.Hurk Drubman Jr

Guns for hire

Hurk is a loud mouth with a knack for destruction. Wielding a heat seeking rocket launcher Hurk is an ideal candidate for combat. He can make light work of both land and air vehicles with his rockets with his ability Junk it, which gives more damage against vehicles. Hurk is also viable against armored enemies and ground units, as no one is truly immune to a heat seeking rocket launcher.

Of course, since Hurk cant keep his mouth shut, stealth is almost entirely impossible with him, so be sure to only equip him if you are planning to go in hot, very hot

1.Cheeseburger

Guns for Hire

Cheeseburger, a giant bear, is an unstoppable force of nature that players can have on their side. Not only is Cheeseburger a giant bullet sponge, making him an ideal tank, but he can instantly kill enemies if he gets close enough.

His ability Cross to Bear, will allow him to draw the focus of the gunfight, leaving players to handle enemies as they wish, without worrying too much about being pinned down by gunfire. His sheer power alone makes him the best contender for the top spot. Running around Montana raiding outposts with a giant bear companion will make for countless hours of fun in Far Cry 5. Also did we mention, he’s a giant bear named Cheeseburger?
