We Have Always been 10 CM Apart

Recommended Videos

There’s no shortage of anime that explore the mysteries and complications of young love but that doesn’t seem like it will stop We Have Always Been 10 CM Apart (Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10-Centimeters Datta) from pulling at your feels. This anime will follow a love story between two young students who have grown to be much more than friends but still aren’t a couple. Haruki Serizawa and Mio Aida have a strong bond, but as they grow closer and closer there is still a small space between them — both physically and figuratively.

Promo trailers for We Have Always Been 10 CM Apart show both of the young students sitting outside together as the sun sets. Both Mio and Haruki admit that they have feelings for someone but fail to clarify who exactly that someone is. With 10 cm between their hands, it’s hard to tell if the emotional distance between them will grow or finally dissipate. If you’re looking for a new slice of life romance anime, We Have Always Been 10 CM Apart has quite a bit of promise. The anime is scheduled to air on Nov. 24.

Haikara-san ga Tooru Movie 1: Benio, Hana No 17-Sai

Any anime lover will tell you that there are quite a few overused tropes and stereotypes that dominate the anime world. One of those tropes is an unbelievably whiny damsel in distress female protagonist who doesn’t seem to be good for much more than crying over a male protagonist and constantly finding herself in trouble with no real way to rescue herself. If you’re interested in an anime movie that steps away from these ideals, however, check out Haikara-san ga Tooru Movie 1: Benio, Hana no 17-Sai.

The movie will follow a young girl named Benio who has a strong personality and a mind of her own. After losing her mother at a young age, she was raised by her father and ultimately became a quirky tomboy who laughs in the face of Japan’s usual portrayal of femininity. Benio adamantly refuses to fall in line with usual traditions like arranged marriages and believes women have a right to their own careers. This first part of a two-part film series is scheduled to air on Nov. 11.

Hizukuri

Hizukuri is a passion project that is scheduled to finally come to life this month. The short anime film kicked off a crowdfunding campaign to raise 1 million yen (a little less than $9,000) and reached that goal back in January. The short film will tell the story of a young boy who finds a pair of broken scissors that will turn out to be a truly special discovery. The scissors belong to his father who recently passed away. After learning from his mother that his father was a gardener, the young boy sets out to find the artisan who crafted these scissors so he can repair them. Hizukuri features a beautiful art style and will call on the talents of voice actors Yumi Yamamoto, Kenshirou Nakara, and Nyoko Mizuki to bring this story to life.

An official release date hasn’t been announced but the short film was given an anticipated release date of November 2017 after reaching its crowdfunding goal. Fingers crossed that this deadline will still be met.

Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Hero Chapter

Yuki Yuna Is a Hero is preparing to enter a new chapter! The first season of Yuki Yuna Is a Hero was released back in 2014 and its success resulted in a variety of different spin-offs in the form of manga and visual novels. Yuki Yuna Is a Hero has garnered a dedicated fanbase that eagerly waited for its return and it finally came in the form of a two-part second season back in October. The first chapter of the second season, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter, began airing last month but now the anime is preparing to enter the second chapter of the second season — The Hero Chapter.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero follows a group of elementary school girls who have formed a Hero Club. These three girls are tasked with fighting a mysterious evil force by the name of Vortex. It’s a fun blend of fantasy, magic, and slice of life that makes the series easy to get wrapped up in. Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Hero Chapter is scheduled to kick off later this month and run through December.
