October Video Game Releases – Week One (Oct. 1-8)

October kicks things off with a strong first week thanks to Warhammer Vermintide and the long awaited Mafia III. Players will get to return to a life of organized crime as they push to take back New Bordeaux (a fictional New Orleans) from the Italian mob. There are plenty of other releases this week for all types of players, including some retro goodness and a lot of indie support. Paper Mario: Color Splash helps to put the Wii U on the map for the month as well, keeping Nintendo in the spotlight.

October Video Game Releases – Week Two (Oct. 9-15)

The second week of October has a lot of games, including some heavy hitters in the form of Gears of War 4, Dragon Quest Builders, and Shadow Warrior 2. But this week will also see the release of some long awaited hardware from the Sony camp – the PSVR. Virtual Reality is finally hitting consoles and many fans are excited to test it out in their own homes, with a solid list of starting titles to choose from, including Batman: Arkham VR.

October Video Game Releases – Week Three (Oct. 16-22)

Batman returns in the remaster of the first two Arkham games, so that you can complete your collection on current gen. Also hitting this week is Battlefield 1, easily one of the most anticipated shooters of the year. DICE is taking it back to basics by dropping players into the first great war. No high-tech gadgetry to help you on the battlefield, just your wits and your will to survive. Skylanders is also getting a new game in the form of Imaginators. Players will be able to create their own heroes by mixing and matching parts and abilities.

October Wrap Up (Oct. 23-31)

October finishes off strong as video game lovers are ushered into the holiday season. There are some big titles covering most if not all genres available, and something for players no matter what platform they own. Berserk and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 bring some anime action to consoles and PC, with Berserk hitting up the Vita as well. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition brings the beloved, dragon-slaying adventure to the current gen with a bunch of new bells and whistles, including beautiful new visuals and mod support (only on the Xbox One for now). Finally, we have Titanfall 2, the sequel to the shooter from the guys who made that one Call of Duty you liked. This time the action will be hitting the PS4 alongside the standard Xbox One and PC releases, complete with an actual single player campaign.
