As gamers, we know what we like and what we want for the holidays. So unless you’ve given your family/partner/friend who is NOT a gamer a very specific list, getting a gaming-related gift from them can be a bit dodgy. But we know they tried, and it’s the thought that counts, right?
That doesn’t mean we can’t laugh at it, though, and Twinfinite has compiled some of the best worst gamer gifts of the 2015 holiday season. Scroll below and see if you can hold back your cringe.
Double the Fun
This definitely has “good intentions” written all over it, but someone doesn’t know how bundles work. This was the gift that was the inspiration for this piece, check out our full writeup on it from earlier this week.
Any Day Now
They say the longer you have to wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when it finally arrives, but this is taking it a little far. Release dates are important, and this gift-giver probably doesn’t know the first thing about timed exclusives.
Out of Control
Look, we know the Xbox One Elite Controller was a hot gift for the holidays, but there’s two problems with this gift. One, that’s your standard (not elite) controller, and two, that’s a PS4 in the background.
You Are Not Ready
The opposite of the above problem, or someone who took the PS1’s launch campaign a little too seriously.
Well, that’s just mean
Yes, this one is probably more of a cruel prank than an unintentional failure, but it’s still hilarious. Hopefully there was a real Xbox One hiding in a clothes box somewhere.
Star Wars Battle Duck Hunt
We can’t tell if this was a prank or not – but this definitely wasn’t what he had in mind when he asked for Star Wars: Battlefront. Maybe the gamer who got two copies can lend this guy one.
Procrastination Never Changes
When you know the gamer in your life would love a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum, but you waited too long and it’s sold out everywhere… you improvise. Points for effort on this one, at least.
I heard you like video games
When your loved ones know you’re a gamer, and know literally nothing else about you, there’s always generic catch-all gifts like these. A game like the one described on the poster sounds pretty awesome, though.
We need to talk
This is probably the most cringe-inducing of the bunch. Either this is a “you have a problem” level of gamer, or the gift-giver is completely out of touch with the gamer’s life. No matter what, this is not what any gamer has in mind when opening their presents.
What’s the worst of the gamer gifts you’ve ever received? Did you keep it together and try to act happy, or did you say something? And what was the best gift you got this year? Let us know in the comments below!
