8 Games to Get You Into the Christmas Spirit

There’s nothing better to get you into the Christmas spirit than dressing up as Santa Claus in a bright and festive Paris to stop thieves from stealing from unsuspecting Parisians.

It quite literally goes against everything Santa stands for so taking the reigns as Agent 47 is simply defending Santa’s honor.

47 has quite a number of disguises but his Santa 47 costume will absolutely make you want to go out and bake some gingerbread cookies or sing some Christmas jams.

There also just so happens to be some killing involved but we can blatantly ignore that in favor of watching some Paris fireworks.

Batman: Arkham Origins

8 Games to Get You Into the Christmas Spirit

The Die Hard of video games, Batman: Arkham Origins takes place on Christmas Eve. For those of you that think Die Hard’s a Christmas movie (and it is), this is a no-brainer for getting into the Christmas spirit.

For those of you that don’t, just think of it as a Christmas side story that’s happening during an actually festive video game.

Either way, there’s something aesthetically pleasing about watching Batman punch and fight crazy bad guys during a snowfall in the middle of Gotham City.

Batman and crime don’t have off days so Christmas Eve means nothing to big baddies like the Joker.

Saints Row 4: How The Saints Save Christmas

8 Games to Get You Into the Christmas Spirit

Saints Row 4 treats us to a festive holiday DLC in its mission packs and season pass. In true Saints Row fashion, it presents us with a humorous holiday tale with a twist.

Santa Claus is the bad guy in this wild story and the Saints have to do everything they can to stop him from putting the entire universe on the naughty list.

Honestly, it’s really what you would expect when you mix together Saint’s Row and Christmas.

Full of bright, flashy attacks, crazy festive weapons and vehicles, and funny dialogue, this DLC will absolutely entertain and get you into the Christmas spirit.

Borderlands 2: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day

8 Games to Get You Into the Holiday Spirit

Like Saints Row 4’s festive DLC, Borderlands 2 takes its own spin on Christmas by giving us mean Yetis, snowy landscapes, and angry snowmen ready to throw hands. Well, sticks.

The frozen city of Gingerton is quite literally overrun by snowmen that want to fight. Their leader, Mr. Tinder Snowflake, is full of angry festive energy and he will do anything to kill the vault hunters.

He personally reminds me of that old Jack Frost holiday movie with the creepily realistic snowman that was meant to be inviting. Don’t remember it? Good.

Despite the wild aspects of this DLC, it’s honestly what you would expect out of a Borderlands Christmas so sit back, relax, make some hot chocolate, and get ready to punch some snowmen.

Dead Rising 4

Dead Rising 4 is more Die Hard than it is a Hallmark Christmas movie but it still gives you a few holiday treats. It does take place on and around Christmas so sometimes that’s all you need.

Our boy Frank West is back at it again fighting zombies and reporting the latest news. However, this time, he’s a college professor helping out his students.

If you need more of the Christmas spirit in this game, Dead Rising 4 does have a festive DLC with Frank fighting zombies dressed up as elves and reindeer.

Christmas and zombies. What more do you need?

Yakuza 5

christmas, christmas spirit

Yakuza 5, arguably the best Yakuza in the series, takes place in December so we get to explore a cozy, wintery Japan as we, you know, punch enemies in back alleys.

Saejima, in particular, has a festive encounter with a man dressed up as Santa Claus. Granted, the man is lying on the ground after being beaten up but he’s still a Santa.

Saejima shows his Christmas spirit by dressing up as Santa, taking down some thugs, and unwillingly entertaining children along the way.

Santa has come to town and he’s ready to beat down bad guys on the naughty list.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds

Christmas and winter go hand in hand in the northern hemisphere and Horizon Zero Dawn’s DLC, The Frozen Wilds, is a nice snowy treat for those of us that love cold weather.

While not particularly Christmas-y in the festive sense, the snow, setting, and weather are a nice reminder of the holiday season’s atmosphere.

Horizon Zero Dawn is already a phenomenal game and its DLC just adds a new, colder spin to the game we’ve come to know and love.

This DLC is one to play while bundled up in a big blanket with warm, comfy clothes on and a nice hot drink.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Like The Frozen Wilds, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne takes us on a nice, frigid journey through a cold new landscape full of giant monsters and creatures.

For some people, once the weather starts getting cold, it’s already Christmas to them. Playing Iceborne will certainly bring up your Christmas spirit if you’re a fan of cold weather.

Entertain yourself by fighting huge, frosty monsters either solo or with friends or make some tasty warm treats while you’re out and about in the cold.

Think of it as a nice camping trip that’s mildly dangerous.
