Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is no small game, there’s a lot to explore in Ancient Greece and while the soundtrack to Odyssey is in no way bad, it might benefit your exploration if you pop in some earbuds and listen to a podcast while you’re collecting stuff and/or leveling up your character.

There are tons of quests to complete and a ton of land to traverse, so chilling out and grinding away in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey would be much more enjoyable if you can kill two birds with one stone. You can attempt to get that coveted Platinum trophy or get all of the achievements on Xbox, and also get through that backlog of Podcasts you’ve yet to finish.

Once you get through the main story beats of the game and you have no important cutscenes to listen to, get that podcast going and chill out in Greece.

Stardew Valley

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

Stardew Valley is already one of the most relaxing gaming experiences out there right now. What can be more relaxing than growing crops on your own farm, getting to meet your friendly neighbors, and now, with the multiplayer mode, you can experience the country life with a friend at tow.

Chilling out and listening to a podcast of your choice while partaking in the farming simulator will no doubt leave you mellowed out and relaxed as heck.

With Stardew Valley, you can even listen to music too as there’s not much that you have to listen to in the game. It would be perfect to open up your music and play a chill vibes playlist or even better, a farming playlist to make your gameplay session that much more authentic.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

When you’re not dealing with Ganon or dealing with annoying motion-based shrine puzzles in Breath of the Wild, exploring the ins and outs of Hyrule can be quite relaxing and meditative.

You can hunt for some food to create some tasty meals for Link to chow down on, you can go ride a horse in a lush, green field and you can just interact with people in the towns and tons more.

Breath of the Wild’s world is teeming with fun things to do and if you’re not doing any main story quests, listening to some music or a podcast could really enhance your experience in Hyrule.

With the strange inhabitants, mysterious creatures, and several different locales to peruse through, Breath of the Wild tries its best to place you in the world, mentally and physically.

With the appropriate playlist or comforting podcast flowing through your ears, going through this vast open-world adventure can become a tranquil activity for you to partake in every once in a while.

Journey

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

Journey literally takes you on a spiritual journey with a robed figure who is on a mission to get to the top of a celestial mountain. You start the adventure by yourself at first, but if you are connected online, you can pair up with another character who is at the same point as you are.

You can’t control who joins your game and you can’t kick anyone out of your world, but they are just there to help you out if they choose to. Journey’s quiet desert landscape is mostly quiet, with environmental sounds to draw you into the world, but imagine if you have an epic playlist playing in the background or just a really good podcast.

Collecting pieces of your scarf and making it to the end of the game takes no time at all and might serve as a relaxing experience for you to check out. If you have a new album to listen to, for example, you can pop in a game like this that’s only a few hours long and zone out.

Dead Cells

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

Dead Cells is a roguelike that has you playing as a man who gets killed over and over again while trying to collect as many dead cells as he can.

Every time you die in Dead Cells, you have to start the game over again from the beginning but it doesn’t take long to progress back to where your past self died.

With each and every run in Dead Cells, you become smarter and more ready to handle whatever comes your way. You also become faster, breezing through the first few levels without a hitch due to going through them over and over again.

For me, Dead Cells, is a really passive experience allowing me to listen to podcasts, music, or even watch television during my many many playthroughs.

Yes, I tend to die constantly even when I’m super focused on playing, but listening to something in the background makes it just a little bit more chill for me. I can sit there with my Switch in hand and knock off a couple of podcasts off of my list.

Firewatch

Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

Firewatch throws you into the role of a volunteer lookout in a Wyoming park. Playing as Henry, it’s your job to be on the lookout for troublemakers in the forest, potential fire hazards like fireworks, and protect the guests of the park.

There’s some secret dark stuff going on in Firewatch that pushes the story but you can forget all about that stuff and go explore the woods. There are beautiful lakeside beaches to take long walks on, you can also find open fields with leaves falling that have changed colors, and much more to seek out.

Whenever I think of a somewhat passive and relaxing experience, Firewatch always comes to mind. Listening to some music or a podcast while taking a nice hike sounds like such a great time if you ask me. It’s like you get to go camping but without the mosquito bites and poison ivy.

Tetris 99

7 Best Games to Podcast & Chill to

I have yet to win a match of Tetris 99, heck I can’t even get down to the top 20 players after having logged in almost ten hours of play. I’m not terrible at this Battle Royale iteration of the popular puzzle game, but compared to other professional Tetris players, I’m at the bottom rung of the ladder.

Tetris 99’s theme is a great and all, but if you’re looking for a more passive experience during your Tetris marathon sessions, listening to a podcast might relax you, allowing to conquer everyone and become the last person standing.

It sure helps me out – I even got to the 21st place before, and you know why? Because I had some sweet words being whispered in my ears.

If podcasts aren’t your thing, then try playing some of your favorite music over Tetris! Maybe some classical tunes or Lo-fi beats to chill you out. I promise, being calm during Tetris, especially when it starts to speed up, will help you out in the long run.
