6 Video Game Characters That Are as Cute as Baby Yoda

The Mandalorian has been out for as long as Disney Plus and everyone is gushing over Baby Yoda. Although even the most hardcore Star Wars fans among us don’t know the exact name of Yoda’s species, Baby Yoda has captured our hearts with its Force of Cuteness.

For those who are smitten by cute things every time we pass by them, there are childlike video game characters who are just as cute as Baby Yoda, if not more so. Here are a few cute babies he might get along with on a play date.

Chao (Sonic the Hedgehog)

An evolution of the Artificial Life (A-Life) system Sonic Team originally created in NiGHTS into Dreams (AKA Nightopians), the Chao have been adored by Sonic fans the world over for their immeasurable cuteness since Sonic Adventure.

The Chao Garden in both Sonic Adventure games allowed them to feed, breed and raise the little Hershey’s Kiss heads for the Chao games.

They loved and cared for the Chao in the Adventure games so much that they got enraged when the Chao Garden was no longer a feature in games beyond Sonic Adventure 2.

Some fans have petitioned Sonic Team to bring back the Chao Garden in future Sonic games, but the closest we got are the cuties’ cameos in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series and a fan-made PC game called Chao Resort Island, which is the 2D version of the Chao Garden.

As mentioned above, the Nightopians are the first A-Life forms Sonic Team introduced in NiGHTS Into Dreams, and are the inhabitants of Nightopia. Every Nightopian is born from a collision of Ideya, the balls of light that dreamers collect.

The Nightopians are like little angels with their halos circling their cone-shaped heads, but unlike their religious mythological counterparts, they wear jester-esque outfits and flutter their pink fairy wings.

Just like the Chao, they’re fun-loving creatures who live in peace and harmony. So much so that they recreate happy worlds hidden deep in the crevices of the dreamers’ consciousness.

Baby Mario

Baby Mario was brought into the world in the most classic nursery rhyme style possible: by stork, along with Luigi. Actually, the stork dropped Mario out of the sky and onto Yoshi’s island after Kamek whizzed past him.

He saw everything from the seat of Yoshi’s back, and although he might seem useless, he guided Yoshi through every trial and tribulation the island threw at them to save his beloved twin brother due to his telepathic powers.

Kirby

Kirby is not necessarily a baby by any stretch of the word, despite being referred to as a “little boy” in the English manual for Kirby’s Dream Land, but he certainly talks like one. His vocabulary is limited to the words “Hi” and “Poyo,” the latter being the cutest word in his dictionary.

He exudes a cheerful and innocent vibe and loves to eat—and suck in, as it were—almost everything in sight. Despite his playful nature, Kirby has some mad fighting skills. He takes on the form and gains abilities of whoever he inhales and swallows as a way of playing dress-up.

Baby Yoda would think that the Force is strong with this bright pink puffball of a few words.

Mew (Pokemon)

Despite its Legendary status, Mew is one of the most cutest and playful Pokemon next to Togepi and Pichu.

Mew is naturally curious about the world around it, and it loves to play with just about anyone and anything. It can turn itself invisible to hide from people even when approaching them and shapeshift into Pokemon in an act of mischief.

If Baby Yoda were to say a single word about Mew, it would be “kitty” because it looks like a kitten. Kids love cats, after all.

Bridge Baby (Death Stranding)

In Death Stranding, a Bridge Baby (BB for short) is a baby that has been taken from the body of a brain-dead mother and kept in a portable pod that simulates the conditions of the womb, as it will die if it feels is not in such a womb or anything resembling it.

The portable pod may not leave BB much room to play in, let alone swim, but I’m sure little Yoda wouldn’t mind keeping it company by giving it lots of tender loving care.
