5 Unanswered Questions We Have After Xbox & Bethesda’s E3 2021 Showcase

Redfall

While a lot of the conferences we’ve seen during E3 2021 have been somewhat lackluster, there is no denying that Xbox and Bethesda’s showcase was great. Alongside plenty of day one Xbox Game Pass reveals, the companies showed off some pretty impressive exclusives as well.

And yet, while getting to see Halo Infinite, The Outer Worlds 2, and Forza Horizon 5 is exciting, there are still some games and studios we’d like to know more about that weren’t at Microsoft’s E3 presentation, and not seeing them has left our minds boggling. These are the five unanswered questions we have after Xbox and Bethesda’s showcase

What Exactly is Everwild?

Xbox Bethesda E3 2021 Showcase

When Everwild was announced at X019, Xbox fans were enraptured by the beautiful sights and sounds its trailer had to offer. Couple this gorgeous look with the fact that it is being developed by Rare, and it was pretty clear that this was going to be a game that everyone would be keeping their eye on.

Yet, two years later, we still don’t really know all that much about Everwild. Yes, there have been new trailers that show off cool creatures and the game’s lush world, but there has been no word on when we’ll see its actual gameplay loop.

Will it be a survival game where you work with creatures to help save nature? Will you battle spirits in an action RPG?

How Long Will We Have to Wait for Fable 4?

Questions We Have After Xbox & Bethesda’s E3 2021 Showcase

It has been over a decade since Fable fans have gotten a mainline installment in the series, so the fact that the upcoming Fable 4 didn’t show up during Xbox and Bethesda’s E3 2021 showcase is mighty disappointing.

Seeing that the game’s developer, Playground Games, is knee-deep in Forza Horizon 5’s development also stings a bit, as it leaves everyone wonder where exactly Fable 4 fits into things. At this point, there really needs to be something released about the game in order to reassure fans, even if it is just a trailer that gives a general idea of the game’s direction.

So far, all Fable 4 revealed is a vague cinematic back in July of last year that let everyone know the game is at least a thing. Here is to hoping we get a look at the game’s development and gameplay some time soon.

What is The Coalition’s Next Non-Gears Projects?

Questions We Have After Xbox & Bethesda’s E3 2021 Showcase

Just a few months ago, The Coalition posted on their official blog that they would be shifting their resources to next-gen development using Unreal Engine 5. Alongside that announcement, they also stated that they would not be making a direct sequel to Gears 5, instead choosing to create multiple new projects in the coming years.

Since they were noticeably absent from Xbox and Bethesda’s E3 2021 plans, fans are still wondering what exactly those projects could be. Maybe they’ll be able to get their hands on a new IP that is similar to Gears’ fast-paced style but not forced to work within its unique world.

Since they’re also switching engines, it’ll also be intriguing to see just how different these new projects feel. It is possible they won’t even have the same style or feel as the Gears series.

Whatever the case, Microsoft fans will be waiting with bated breath to hear what is next for The Coalition.

What is Redfall’s Gameplay Like?

Redfall, Xbox Bethesda E3 2021 Showcase

One of the biggest surprises of Xbox and Bethesda’s conference came at the very end, as Dishonored and Prey developer Arkane Studios showed off their brand new game, Redfall. In the reveal trailer, we get a general idea of the premise, as a group of characters used superpowers to fight powerful vampires and their minions.

Alongside the CG trailer, Xbox also stated that the game would be an open-world 4-player co-op vampire hunting title. What exactly does that mean for the game’s playstyle, though?

Is it going to have a campaign where players can hop in and out? Will it feel like past Arkane games, or will it have more of a Left 4 Dead approach to things? Only time will tell. Either way, things are looking pretty good for Redfall so far.

Where is Elder Scrolls 6?

At this point, it honestly feels like Elder Scrolls 6 is never going to come out, right?

Not counting Elder Scrolls Online, it has been over a decade since a game has released in the series. The only thing we have even seen so far is a teaser trailer all the way back in 2018. As such, Xbox and Bethesda’s E3 2021 showcase seems like it would be the perfect stage to announce the next game and drum up some hype.

Unfortunately, E3 2021 was more of the same when it came to not getting more info on the sequel to Skyrim, as Bethesda’s big push revolved around Starfield. Not only that, but The Forgotten City – a Skyrim mod-turned-standalone video game that was only announced a few years ago – managed to show up this year and showcase a preview build at the event.

With all that in mind, everyone is still left wondering what is going on with the development of Elder Scrolls 6. Even if they didn’t show off gameplay, it would still be nice to at least acknowledge that the game is still even a thing. For now, fans will simply have to go back to playing Skyrim on their smart fridge.
