Running for only one week between July 2 and July 9, the Sony Capcom Flash Sale discounts games new and old, as well as select DLC items for franchises like Resident Evil and Street Fighter.

For those of you who need some help deciding how to spend your hard-earned money during this sale, look no further. Here are five games to buy during Sony’s Capcom Flash Sale.

Strider

  • MSRP:  $14.99
  • Flash Sale Price: $4.49 (70 % off)
  • PS+ Sale Price: $2.99 (80% off)

With the lowest-priced game on our list, Double Helix’s reboot of Strider was met with largely positive reviews when it launched in 2014. The game was praised for its authentic recreation of the ninja-like speed and mobility that Strider is known for.

Strider is a hack-and-slash style beat ’em up with an emphasis on acrobatics. Getting around each level using Hiryu’s arsenal of air maneuvers and double jumps is a blast as the controls feel fluid and responsive. Simply put, Strider has never felt this good.

This reboot took what made the original game in 1989 so prolific and added more in-depth mechanics to the combat and gameplay. The original Strider was very much a linear experience, while the 2014 reboot is more in the style of a Metroidvania in terms of its map and exploration.

After taking down waves of enemies as you progress through the world, you will inevitably face one of the more challenging aspects of the game, the bosses. Fighting bosses in Strider is an exercise in pattern memorization and fantastic timing.

Although these encounters can become frustrating over time, when you finally take one down, it is a deeply satisfying and rewarding accomplishment that makes the experience feel well worth your time and effort.

Strider is a game that forces you to rethink your combat strategies constantly and encourages the player to adapt and learn as they progress through the game. Choosing to grab Strider during the Sony Capcom Flash Sale is no doubt a worthy investment.

  • MSRP:  $29.99
  • Flash Sale Price: $17.99 (40 % off)

The Mega Man Legacy Collection 1&2 Combo Pack offers more bang for your buck than any title on our list.  This collection pack contains Mega Man games 1-10 in a bundled deal that is a perfect gift for any Mega Man fan.

Although you can purchase these retro Mega Man titles in multiple different forms, the Mega Man Legacy Collection might be the ultimate way to experience them.

Monster Hunter World

  • MSRP:  $49.99
  • Flash Sale Price: $24.99 (50 % off)
  • PS+ Sale Price: $19.99 (60% off)

As we approach the release of Iceborne, Monster Hunter World’s next big expansion, there is no better time to hop in the hub-world of Astera to try your hand at slaying some monsters.

Monster Hunter World is a game where you embark on a journey to, you guessed it, hunt monsters.  However, what makes the game so interesting is its extremely deep crafting mechanics, weapon variety and challenging combat.

Slaying monsters repeatedly will eventually reward you with enough materials to craft stronger weapons and armor, thus increasing your power and opening up the world in new ways. Monster Hunter’s gameplay loop is one of the most addicting and rewarding experiences in video games today.

Monster Hunter prides itself on its massive selection of weapon types, each one playing vastly different from the next, ensuring that there is an option for every type of Hunter out there.

Check out our Monster Hunter World guide for more in-depth information on combat and weapons.

Although Monster Hunter is a franchise that has been known to be severely punishing for newcomers, Monster Hunter World is Capcom’s attempt to change that perception.

By offering more information and simplifying menu systems that plagued the game’s past, Capcom has made Monster Hunter World a far more welcoming experience.

The game has been a tremendous success for Capcom, earning them a Quadruple Platinum at the 2018 Playstation Awards and is now their best selling game of all time, surpassing franchise titans like Street Fighter and Resident Evil.

Pick this game up during the Sony Capcom Flash Sale, and you will not be disappointed.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

  • MSRP:  $19.99
  • Flash Sale Price: $16.99 (15 % off)
  • PS+ Sale Price: $14.99 (25% off)

A game of the year contender in 2017, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is an exciting fresh take on the franchise that had been feeling somewhat stale over the past few iterations.

Being the first mainline Resident Evil game to use a first-person camera, Capcom elected to take risks with the game that ended up paying off in a major way. The changes they made to the franchise under Biohazard helped revitalize the franchise.

Capcom chose to veer away from the roots of its predecessors and focused more on the exploration and horror aspects rather than the action-oriented gameplay of the past.

Capcom built an environment for Resident Evil 7 that leaves a lasting impression with you long after you turn off the PS4. As the main character Ethan, you will spend a majority of the time in the Baker house, a haunting home filled with mystery that is reminiscent of movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

With the increased risk that Capcom chose to take with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, so too comes their implementation of VR which creates a chilling and unique experience for those with a PSVR headset.

Not only is Resident Evil 7 one of the best games of 2017, but it also one of the best VR games as well. Capcom did an excellent job of implementing virtual reality in a way that makes it feel like a priority, not a tack on.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is a game that is already well worth the asking price, so grabbing it even for just a few bucks off during the Sony Capcom Flash Sale is well worth your money.

Dragon’s Dogma:  Dark Arisen

  • MSRP:  $29.99
  • Flash Sale Price: $20.99 (30 % off)
  • PS+ Sale Price: $17.99 (40% off)

Released back in 2012, the original Dragon’s Dogma was a game that seemed to slip under the radar of many people. Regarded by many that played it as a sleeper hit, the game became somewhat of a cult classic over the years.

Capcom’s decision to release an enhanced version under next-gen hardware in 2017 allowed more people to experience this title for the first time and vastly expanded its audience.

Dragon’s Dogma is universally praised for its RPG mechanics and robust class system that is catered to fit a multitude of play styles. You can wield magic as a Mage or Sorcerer, take aim with a bow as a Strider or Ranger, or even hide in the shadows as a deadly Assassin.

With 9 different classes to choose from, there is surely a style that fits your preference.

The game is heavily influenced by titles such as Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls. The combat sets it apart from most action RPGs and has a depth to it that will keep you entertained for hours.

The game provides players a challenge that is often lacking in most action RPGs. Enemies are no slouch and require players to use their AI partners and utilize their class toolset to overcome the challenges that arise.

Not only is Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen the enhanced version, but it is also the complete edition as well. Containing all of the DLC the game has offered over the years, grabbing this title on sale is well worth your money.

For a game that is estimated to last anywhere between 40 to 80 hours depending on how much exploring or side questing the player takes on, a $20.00 game with this much content is practically a steal.

Picking this up during the Sony Capcom Flash Sale is an easy decision.
