Happy Home Paradise, the expansion for Animal Crossing New Horizons, has been out for a few weeks now. And as we’ve seen from Animal Crossing players in the past, there is no limit to how creative the designs can get.
The premise of the expansion has players designing dream vacation homes for villagers as well as facilities such as schools, cafes, and a hospital. The more homes they player designs, the more options they have in terms of decorating.
In fact, there are many more options here than in the base game, such as constructing wall dividers, pillars, and countertops. These options along with a wide variety of new items allow for a ton of creativity that wasn’t possible before. Here are some of the best Happy Home Paradise designs we’ve seen so far that are sure to inspire you.
Enchanted Woodland Cafe
This cafe sets itself apart from others because it has an enchanted woodland theme. There are decorative vines and trees throughout the room with wooden floorboards, chairs, and tables, so it gives the impression that you’re inside a forest.
There are lots of careful details in this woodland cafe, including glowing moss and green drinks. It’s a super creative aesthetic and goes the extra mile in terms of creating a relaxing cafe.
Culinary School
While most people modeled their schools in Happy Home Paradise to look like a traditional K-12 school, this player decided to do something a little different. They created a culinary school where villagers can go to learn how to book and bake.
Instead of filling the school with books and pencils, this one has pies, bread, and other ingredients. Of course, there are still desks and chairs for each of the students to sit in while learning how to cook delicious recipes. It’s a super creative twist on the prompt, and it’s designed very well.
Gamer Academy
Here’s another creative twist on the “build a school” assignment. This player lived out their fantasies by creating Gamer Academy, a school where villagers can learn how to make video games.
There are two main spots in this school: on the left side, villagers can sit at desktop computers testing and developing games; on the right side, they can sit at a table and develop ideas, create sketches, and test games on a Nintendo Switch Lite.
It looks like there are also plenty of snacks stocked for long nights working on projects. Definitely a dream school!
Flower & Flour Residence
At a certain point in the Happy Home Paradise DLC, you can have two villagers living together in the same vacation house as roommates. This player paired up Azalea and Merengue, and created a dream house for them based on their favorite things.
As their names suggest, Azalea loves flowers and Merengue loves baking. So naturally, half of the house is dedicated to each of these interests, all with the creative name Flower & Flour.
Sherb’s Fairytale Theme Park
Some players go the extra mile with villager house requests, and that’s exactly what this player did when Sherb asked for a fairytale theme park. While most people would just put a couple of rides like a carousel and teacups outside, this person transformed his whole house into a theme park wonderland.
You can see in the video they posted just how much time went into carefully matching all of the colors and fitting every item into the space like puzzle pieces. It’s truly impressive how well it all goes together. We’re just wondering how Sherb will sleep with all those noises and lights!
Beachfront Cafe
Here’s a somewhat more traditional take on a cafe, but this one has a beachfront theme. It’s the exact sort of cafe you’d find if you were vacationing at the beach, which makes perfect sense for this scenario as the villagers are spending their vacations on the archipelago islands.
This one is called Hokulea Beachfront Cafe, and we love the clean blue and white color scheme it has. There are some cute touches in the details like anchor designs on the pennants and the inclusion of an ice cream display for those hot summer days.
Tiny Saplings Elementary
Though this is a much more traditional take on a school, Tiny Saplings Elementary captured our hearts.
It’s the cutest design for an elementary school, complete with posters, paint sets, and even a class hamster. It looks cozy and welcoming as any elementary school should, which makes it the perfect inspiration if you’re looking for a simple and traditional design to be inspired by.
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Bike Shop
This player took some inspiration from the Game Boy Advance game Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald when designing the exterior of villager Walker’s home. They recreated the bike rental shop with remarkable accuracy.
The house colors are a perfect match, from the roof to the siding to the door. There are bikes in a fenced in area to the left, pine trees lining the back and side yard, and even a matching sign and pathway. Fans of the third generation of Pokemon games would surely recognize this iconic location.
Howl’s Bedroom
We don’t even want to know how long it took for this player to recreate Howl’s bedroom from the 2004 Studio Ghibli movie Howl’s Moving Castle. Just look at how many items are packed into this house! It’s one of the most complex designs we’ve seen.
They managed to match all of the vines, books, chairs, trinkets, artifacts and other intricacies of this iconic room. It looks like nearly every surface of this room has been decorated in some capacity. You can see the comparison and how even the color scheme matches nicely.
Tipper’s Ranch
To contrast the incredible detail in the house above, Tipper’s Ranch proves that sometimes simplicity can look just as nice.
This player managed to turn a regular house and yard into a farm by using verandas on either side to create the illusion of a barn. There’s great use of new items in this design, such as the new windmill, tractor, and wheat fields. The dirt paths add the perfect level of detail without going too over the top.
Botanical Cafe
This botanical cafe called Moss Tea is another example of a cafe inspired by nature. This one uses ivy designs as the main backdrop on the walls with an emphasis on hanging lights and plants.
What makes this one stand out is how creatively they use the tiny space by utilizing both the walls and ceiling for decorations. Much of the space is used up, but it doesn’t look cluttered because of how it’s all laid out.
Pediatrician Hospital
Finally, this player decided to make their hospital facility into a pediatrician. This is such an adorable way to make the hospital look like a friendlier place to be treated.
The first room is a check-in and waiting room that has a cozy place to sit and even a corner with toys for kids to play with. The back room is where the doctor helps the patients, but it has child-friendly posters and wallpaper to help them feel calm.
This is the most creative take on the hospital building assignment we’ve seen yet, and this player completely knocked it out of the park.
