We got an extended look at a bunch of different games and even got some release date reveals. Let’s take a look at some of the best trailers out of TGS 2019.

Project Resistance

Project Resistance caused a bit of a stir right before the Tokyo Game Show, as news of its existence leaked. We are about due for the announcement of a mainline RE game, so expectations were high.

Well, not quite. Project Resistance is a multiplayer game, and while that might not have been what the majority of fans where expecting, it looks like it will be solid game regardless.

A gameplay trailer was shown, and the asynchronous style of gameplay looks quite different from other RE multiplayer entries like Operation: Racoon City. Time will tell how the finished product plays.

Shenmue 3

Shenmue fans have been waiting for the next installment in the series for nearly 20 years now, and the Kickstarter backed project looks to be living up to expectations.

The trailer shown off at TGS doesn’t directly show gameplay and is instead more supposed to portray the mood and a general feeling of the game. The long wait is nearly over, as Shenmue 3 launches Nov. 19.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

OK, this might be cheating, but we got a bunch of Final Fantasy VII Remake footage alongside a gorgeous new trailer, with each being somehow more epic than the last.

Arguably the star of the show, the Final Fantasy VII Remake gameplay shown at TGS stole hearts and captured imaginations with their thrilling mix of gameplay and narrative stage-setting.

While we have seen several trailers for the game now, these most recent ones introduce us to some more boss encounters, including the Turks who appear to have an expanded role in Remake.

Death Stranding

Kojima Production’s Death Stranding has been a mainstay at most gaming events it seems, and the game is finally starting to feel a little less mysterious.

This newest trailer sets the stage from a narrative perspective and will give you an idea of what you are in for. Death Stranding is only a few short months away, releasing Nov. 8.

If that wasn’t enough for you, an extended look at the game was shown off by Kojima himself, and you can check it out here.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was a bit of a surprise reveal at this years E3, and we got an extended look at the game at TGS. The trailer looks at the relationship that is at the heart of the game, between Goku and Gohan.

An RPG spanning from the first encounter with Raditz all the way through the Buu Saga, this looks to be the definitive DBZ experience fans have long dreamed of.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launches Jan. 17, 2020.

Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind

Kingdom Hearts 3 was one of the biggest JRPG releases in recent years, which isn’t surprising considering the hype that was built during its long development cycle.

The story continues in the DLC, ReMind, and hardcore fans will need little prompting to jump back in. And while we don’t have a confirmed release date, the ReMind trailer did give us a release window.

You can expect to play through ReMind this coming winter.

Nioh 2

Nioh was a tough as nails RPG inspired by the Dark Souls series, and its deep and rewarding combat system earned it a legion of fans of its own.

This newest trailer shows it in action, and some of the semi-historical figures you can expect to encounter.

A sequel was announced at last years E3, and from the looks of things will be solid follow up in an underrated series. Nioh 2 is set to launch in early 2020.

Final Fantasy Chronicles Remaster

Square Enix seems to be on a bit of remastering kick with the announcement of Final Fantasy Chronicles Remastered hot on the heels of the recently released Final Fantasy VIII.

Chrystal Chronicles is a bit different from its mainline brethren, with a focus on multiplayer gameplay. Its release date was announced, and its coming Jan. 23, 2020.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4

The One Piece series is no stranger to video games, with multiple entries in a variety of different gaming genres.

The Pirate Warriors franchise is a Musou take on the series, and they are something of a cult favorite among fans of the genre. While no specific date was revealed, One Piece Pirate Warriors is coming in 2020.

Tales of Arise

The Tales series is one of the longest-running JRPG franchises, and Tales of Arise looks to continue the trend of larger than life characters and melodramatic moments.

The game looks great, with well-crafted characters and an intriguing premise. It looks to continue the trend of darker storylines that began in Berseria.

The trailer shown at TGS did not reveal a release date, but it has been previously announced that the game is slated for a 2020 launch.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

We have been getting Yakuza games in the West at a steady clip over the last several years, and the latest entry in the series was just announced at TGS.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon looks to break with existing conventions in this latest trailer, and rather than playing like an action-adventure game, this newest entry will be a turn-based JRPG.

We will have to wait and see if this genre shift will work out. It will be released in Japan on Jan. 16 and will launch in the West sometime later in 2020.
