Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red’s next big release has been eagerly awaited since its unveiling at E3 2018, and despite the fact that “it’s coming when it’s ready”, we’ve heard only good news regarding Cyperbunk’s progress as of late.
In late March, CDPR president Adam Kiciński stated that E3 2019 Will Be the “most important ever” for the developer, and just last week we found out that Cyberpunk 2077 is “proceeding at full speed”.
We do know that the game won’t be playable at the conference (besides by developers in demos), and that both public and private info sessions will be taking place.
At the top of most fan’s wishlists is undoubtedly a release date for Cyberpunk 2077. When asked whether this will be delivered at E3, Kiciński replied that he “can neither confirm or deny.”
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
Fortunately for fans, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order not only has a scheduled appearance at E3 but also a description of what to expect.
We learned in early May that developer Respawn Entertainment will be showing off its hard work at E3 via EA Play, the publishing giant’s sideshow to the conference.
EA Play won’t have a traditional press conference but instead will consist of multiple livestreams highlighting the company’s biggest releases.
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order’s livestream is scheduled to air via YouTube on June 9 at 9:30 AM PDT. At that time we will be treated to the first ever glimpse of gameplay to whet our appetite before the game’s slated release date of November 15 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Halo Infinite
When Halo Infinite was first announced at E3 2018, not many details were revealed. Perhaps the most intriguing info we were given (besides confirmation that another mainline Halo was in the works) was that Infinite is being developed with 343 Industries new Slipspace Engine.
Bonnie Ross, boss of 343 Industries, has since told IGN that Halo Infinite will indeed be discussed at E3. The game’s director Chris Lee will be present to hopefully share gameplay and/or a release date in addition to showing off the potential of the new game engine.
DOOM Eternal
In its E3 save-the-date announcement, publisher Bethesda promised that Sunday, June 9 will be a “hell of a night” thanks to the “in-depth look at DOOM Eternal” that’s coming our way.
Back at E3 2018 it was first revealed that Hell would be coming to earth in a sequel to 2015’s franchise reboot.
Since then we’ve also found out that DOOM Eternal will be coming to both the Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia (in addition to the expected PS4/Xbox One), and that Steam will be the storefront of choice on PC (allaying of Epic Games Store exclusivity).
Dying Light 2
The game’s official Twitter account announced that Dying Light 2 will be at E3 and that the game will be “our most ambitious project to date”.
First revealed at E3 2018, this forthcoming sequel looks to capitalize on the features that made the original game so great: a vast open world, parkour, relentless zombies, and decision making that affects the entire game.
In the year since its announcement, we’ve learned that Dying Light 2 will have multiple endings and a map that’s four times larger than the first game.
In addition, developer Techland shared that the zombies in the game will go through a sort of life cycle, transforming into different shambling shapes and acquiring various abilities and weakness as they evolve.
Dying Light 2 will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but no release date has been set as of now.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Officially announced by Ubisoft on May 9th, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be featured during publisher Ubisoft’s E3 presentation on June 10th.
An all-new story complete with intricate dialogue choices is promised to arrive on October 4th of this year, however, the gameplay we’ve seen so far looks a lot like Wildlands. Hopefully, we’ll see more details that change our minds at E3.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince
The puzzle-platformer series Trine will return with another entry sometime in 2019, and the game will also return to its beloved “2.5D” perspective (in between 2 and 3D) that it’s been known for in the past.
A press release has stated the publisher Modus games will be bringing The Nightmare Prince to E3 2019, and also to the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch when it eventually releases.
In Trine 4, players will experience the story of three heroes who are “joined together once again as they search for Prince Selius, a troubled young noble who is afflicted with intensely dark dreams.”
Trine 3 was a bit of a flop, and when we saw it in April of this year, the newest entry looked significantly prettier “but very samey”. We’re eager to see what progress has been made since then and if the developers will be able to stick to their promised release date.
Borderlands 3
We already know a good deal of information about the next mainline Borderland’s game, but apparently, there’s a lot more in store for us at E3 this year.
CEO of developer Gearbox Randy Pitchford tweeted recently that we can expect “new gameplay, a new Vault Hunter and a New Planet” to be revealed during the convention. In addition, Pitchford teased that there may be “a surprise or two” included as well.
Attendees of E3 will also get a chance to play the game themselves, so I think it’s safe to say the more Borderlands 3 gameplay footage will be coming our way very soon.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
COD looks to be returning to its roots (again). Not its WWII roots specifically, but its grittier, darker portrayal of conflict that doesn’t hide the horrors of war behind an action movie facade.
Modern Warfare will be a return to the franchise’s most lauded sub-series, but won’t be a direct sequel to MW3. Three big takeaways from Thursday’s unveiling of the game are: 1. single-player is back, 2. the season pass is gone, and 3. the release date is set for October 25.
You can read more about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s announcement here, and you can expect more details to come from E3.
Marvel’s Avengers
On June 10 you can check out the reveal of what developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix have in store for the forthcoming Marvel’s Avengers game.
Not much has been detailed since the game was first announced in 2017. However, just yesterday, Evan Filarca of The Spidey Squad noticed some juicy details in the description provided for Marvel’s Avengers planned E3 showcase.
It’s not a whole lot to go on, but it should be enough to tide you over until the big unveiling at E3.
