Netflix has officially announced that its popular documentary series, Tiger King, will be receiving a second season, which will air later this year. The news comes by way of a tweet from the streaming service’s official Twitter account, which you can check out below:
For many folks, the original Tiger King docuseries hit just at the beginning of the ongoing pandemic, and is largely associated with having to stay at home, stay safe, and binge-watch entertaining TV to keep boredom at bay. However, it’s safe to say that the show has gone on to become pretty resonant in peoples’ hearts and minds.
For those unaware, the eight-episode television series – which is officially titled Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness – focuses on the real-life exploits of the eponymous Tiger King, an eccentric cat breeder and Zoo owner based in Oklahoma.
The show sheds light on the bizarre and seedy underbelly of cat breeding culture in the United States and introduces us to a handful of fascinating cat conservationists like Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, amongst others.
Interestingly, the first season of Tiger King was watched by 34.3 million people over its first ten days of release, and went on to rank as one of Netflix’s most successful releases to date. No small feat, indeed. Long story short, if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, we wholeheartedly recommend it.
Unfortunately, no concrete release date for the second season of Tiger King has been confirmed, but Netflix has committed to a release window of later this year. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear an official launch date.
But tell us, how do you feel about this news? Are you excited to return to the crazy world of Tiger King? Or will you be giving the second season a hard pass? Pet the felines in the usual place down below and let us know.
