It was announced this past weekend that Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame has surpassed the former number one movie at the box office. You can say goodbye to that spot James Cameron because Endgame is now the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing Avatar.

James Camerons’ Avatar originally held the top spot for nine years with only a handful of movies coming close, but the deed has been done thanks to a re-release of Endgame this past month that featured cut content and bonus scenes for hardcore fans to enjoy.

Even though James Cameron’s film has been toppled, the iconic filmmaker went to Twitter to congratulate Marvel Studios on the accomplishment.

You can see the Tweet below, but this is what he said: “Oel Ngati Kameie, I see you Marvel –Congratulations to Avengers Endgame on becoming the new box-office king.”

For those that weren’t aware, that phrase at the beginning of the quote is from the fictional language, Na’vi, that’s part of the Avatar series which translates to “I see you.”

After just a few hours after the original Tweet from Cameron, the Russo Brothers (directors of Endgame) also went on Twitter to thank Cameron for everything that he’s done to influence their careers:

“To Jim Cameron– you’re a monumental reason why we fell in love with film in the first place. Thank you for always inspiring us and opening the world’s eyes to what’s possible. We can’t wait to see where you take us next…”

Also, this isn’t the first time that James Cameron went on Twitter to applaud Marvel Studios on their high-grossing films. When the news came out that Avengers: Endgame crushed the record for Titanic, the visionary tweeted out the photo below –what a nice guy!
