Deadline broke the story earlier in the evening that the series would be headed from Showtime to Paramount+.

Steven Spielberg is attached to the production via his production company Amblin Television and is developing the series with 343 Industries.

Chief Creative Officer of CBS and Chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks, David Nevins, spoke to Deadline about how the series will focus on the human element of the Spartan super soldiers.

It delivers the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience around the Spartans, human beings who got their humanity chemically and genetically altered. The story is about reclaiming what makes them human, and therefore it’s a very powerful story.

Halo’s journey to the small screen has been a long winding road dating back to 2013, and will premiere almost 9 years after it’s original announcement. We received some minor updates in 2018, when CBS and Showtime reassured us that the show was still in development and that Master Chief was set to be the series’ main protagonist.

Deadline reports that the series was about “55%-60%” done when the coronavirus pandemic shut down production last March. It was at this point that the Halo series was being eyed for the Paramount+ service.

The Halo TV series is set to hit Paramount+ in Q1 2022.

Looking for more Halo? The TV series received a new director in 2019 and Halo Infinite received an update on its combat and weapons.
