5 Best Anime Coming to Amazon Prime in 2018

Based on Mado Nozaki’s novels, Babylon follows the story of a prosecutor, Zen Seizaki, who works with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors’ Office. During one investigation, he stumbles across a shocking conspiracy over an election regarding a new zone in western Tokyo. So far, they’ve released a short teaser for the show, but not much else.

Still, it’s worth pointing out that the source material covered some rather heavy themes. The short trailer alone delves into suicide, which is one of the show’s main concepts. If you’ve been searching for anime with dark undertones, then you should definitely look into Babylon once it hits Amazon Prime. We’ll keep you posted with a release date as soon as they announce one.

Banana Fish

5 Best Anime Coming to Amazon Prime in 2018

Ash Lynx is a 17-year-old leader of a gang based in New York City. While he was the heir to Dino Golzine’s criminal empire, the young man fled from the scene and seeks recluse with his handicapped older brother in their gang. After a drastic turn of events, he meets a Japanese college student named Eiji Okumura who helps on his investigation to solve the meaning of “banana fish” – a phrase which had driven his brother mad back during the Vietnam War.

Banana Fish doesn’t skirt around issues and heads straight down to the nitty-gritty of things. The anime is based on its 1985 manga counterpart, which did tackle some extreme themes such as drugs, sexual violence, and guerrilla warfare. At its core, however, Banana Fish relies on its characters to deliver a heart-wrenching, coming-of-age story. Banana Fish is slated to air this July 2018 on Amazon Prime.
