Activating Solar Orbs in Coral Island

Wait until you receive a letter from Ling, then meet her at the pier to learn how to dive. She’ll give you a diving suit that allows you to breathe underwater and introduce you to Kibles, her helpful diving bot. Head to the ladder to dive.

The solar orbs are buried under piles of trash on the sea floor. Use your scythe to hack at the piles of trash until you find the solar orb. It looks something like an upside-down balloon with a sparkling golden sphere inside, and it makes a tinkling sound when you uncover it.

Approach it and right-click to activate it. At first, it may seem like nothing much is happening, but if you wander around the area, you’ll see a monument of some sort emerging from among the coral. It will open and emit a path of light across the sand to the sick coral site you were just cleaning.

Follow the beam of light across the sand, as you may have to clear more trash that blocks the way. If you’ve already cleared all the trash around the coral site, you may not need to do any more clearing. But if any trash blocks the way of the beam, you’ll have to clean it so the beam can continue. The offending pile of trash will be highlighted in red.

Another monument will rise out of the sand to connect with the beam and radiate a burst of light, healing the coral sight around it. When the coral site is healed, the oily roots blocking your way to the next coral site will clear away. Repeat the process of clearing trash, activating solar orbs, and healing coral sites until you’ve cleaned five underwater areas.

What to Do After Activating All Solar Orbs

After you’ve activated five solar orbs and cleaned five coral sites, go visit Ling at the lab. She’ll congratulate you on your progress and invite you to her secret lair (yes, really) to learn more about your work under the sea. Years ago, she says, she planted super corals and buried ancient technology among the coral sites. This technology has the power to heal coral that has been damaged by oil and pollutants.

Ling reminds you that you’re not the only one capable of doing the work that you’re doing, so you should feel free to walk away from it if you don’t want to. This isn’t a fate you can’t escape, she explains. But she gives you the quest to clear a total of 20 coral sites anyway. Continue exploring, cleaning up, activating solar orbs, and healing dive sites to complete this quest.

Now that you’re armed with everything you need to know about activating solar orbs and cleaning coral sites, you’re ready to go diving. Before you go, be sure to check out our other Coral Island content and guides.
