Overwatch 2 was originally announced with the promise that it would come with a PvE mode that included a full story campaign and replayable Hero Missions for co-op lovers. If you’re wondering when Overwatch 2’s story mode is coming out, here’s what you need to know.
Overwatch 2 Story Mode Release Date
At the time of writing, the PvE content for Overwatch 2 is set to come out in early 2023. However, we don’t have a solid release date beyond that.
From the roadmap that Blizzard has shared, it looks like the story content will likely be released piecemeal, as part of the seasonal content structure that the company has adopted with Overwatch 2. Considering that seasons are set to last about 90 days each, we’ll likely see the first bit of PvE content in February or March 2023 at the earliest.
What’s Included in the Story Mode?
We don’t know exactly what the story mode will entail, but from past trailers, it was revealed that players will be able to go through a full story campaign that dives deeper into the world and lore of Overwatch. After beating the campaign, you’d then be able to check out Hero Missions, which are meant to be a form of replayable PvE endgame content.
In addition to that, each hero is supposed to have skill trees that you can progress through, along with upgrades that will make them stronger in the PvE side of things.
