Whenever a big anime franchise gets a new movie, one of the most important parts of it is trying to figure out where it fits in the show’s story. With Dragon Ball Super, this is certainly a little more muddled. Here’s the full explanation of when Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero takes place in the series’ timeline.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Timeline Placement
The short answer is that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a continuation of the events shown off in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film, though it does get a bit tricky just when exactly after it that the movie takes place.
Dragon Ball Super takes place four years after the end of Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Guru gives the year as 778 when Beerus shows up at the start of Dragon Ball Super. Seeing as the Wiki states that Pan is three years old at the start of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, it puts the year sometime around 781. It is likely the film takes place sometime after the series’ fifth arc, the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, which takes place through chapters 42-67 in the manga.
For reference, the beginning sagas to Dragon Ball Super are:
- God of Destruction Beerus Saga
- Universe 6 Saga
- “Future” Trunks Saga
- Universe Survival Saga
- Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga
Though, this is where things get a little more tricky. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero doesn’t technically fit in anywhere specific in the manga/anime. While it is still part of the Dragon Ball Super storyline, the film instead is placed as a continuation of the events shown off in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film.
Considering this, it is likely the film will feature Broly in some capacity. This is an important distinction as he doesn’t have an actual place in the anime/manga series.
That should give you more than enough information for the full explanation of when Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero takes place in the series’ timeline.
