NetherRealm’s latest iteration of its iconic beat em’ up is the franchise’s most successful yet, enjoyed by a community of players that number in the millions. But is Mortal Kombat 11 cross-platform for those who want to play with friends across different hardware? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is Mortal Kombat 11 Cross-Platform?
Yes, Mortal Kombat 11 does feature cross-platform functionality. Fittingly, it’s called Krossplatform, but unfortunately, it only allows for players across console to play with each other — specifically, PlayStation and Xbox consoles. If you’re playing on PC or Nintendo Switch you will only be allowed to play with people on the same platform.
As for whether this is likely to change in the future, NetherRealm states on its FAQ page regarding crossplay that the team is looking into adding the same functionality across those platforms too. We’ll keep you updated if and when we hear more on the subject.
For now, those who want to enjoy cross-platform play in Mortal Kombat 11 on PlayStation and Xbox platforms need only enable Krossplay for Online Kasual matches, then enter an Online Room marked as a designated Krossplay Room. You can then challenge players on PS4 and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S support is also available following the release of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate last November.
If you’re ever wondering whether someone you have played versus was playing on a different platform to yourself, simply check out whether they have a Krossplay icon (two crossed arrows) on their Kombat Kard.
That’s everything you should need to know about whether Mortal Kombat 11 is cross-platform. For more useful tips and guides on the game, search Twinfinite.
