The Genshin Impact 2.5 Special Program stream has come and gone, so we have a ton of new info on what’s on the way when the new version arrives on Feb. 16. Yae Miko is finally joining the roster as a playable character alongside a new world boss, weapons, and events. Here’s a rundown of everything we know about what’s coming in the Genshin Impact 2.5 update.
New Banners: Yae Miko, Raiden Shogun, & Kokomi
What’s New in Genshin Impact 2.5
Yae Miko is a shrine maiden at Grand Narukami Shrine, and she appears prominently throughout the end of the Inazuma Archon Quest storyline when you need to confront the Raiden Shogun.
In terms of gameplay, she’s a five-star Electro catalyst user who specializes in dealing damage both while she’s on and off the field. Her Elemental Skill leaves behind a Sesshou Sakura that strike enemies with lightning, and her Burst unseals these Sesshou Sakura and strikes with thunderbolts at their location, granting Skill cooldown for each destroyed Sakura.
Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi are getting rerun banners, so, as a refresher, the former is a five-star Electro polearm user who works well with other Electro characters, while the latter is a five-star catalyst wielder who attacks and heals with Hydro.
Raiden Shogun Boss
What’s New in Genshin Impact 2.5
If you’ve completed the Inazuma Archon Quest storyline that ended in a face-off against the Raiden Shogun, you should know that the shogun we see out and about is nothing more than a puppet created by Ei — the real Raiden Shogun.
This new boss seems to be put together with doll-like limbs, so we may be going head-to-head with Ei’s creation after it has gone completely haywire. There’s even a shot in the recent Version 2.5 trailer that shows two Raiden Shogun confronting each other, so this is a plausible theory.
Whoever it really is, there’s going to be a ton of Electro damage to avoid from the looks of it, so it might be wise to prepare a team that doesn’t rely on an Electro DPS to win fights.
Two New Catalyst Weapons
What’s New in Genshin Impact 2.5
As usual, new themed weapons are coming alongside the release of this update’s new character. Two catalysts are coming to the game — one being Electro-themed and the other looking like it’s meant for Hydro characters. The first is Kagura’s Verity, a five-star weapon, and the second is a four-star catalyst called Oathsworn Eye, which will be available as an event reward.
Not that design matters much hover stats in Genshin Impact, but its’ looking like Kagura’s Verity could be meant for Yae Miko. The Oathsworn Eye, on the other hand, looks to be meant more for Kokomi if we’re just looking at the banners, even though she already has the Everlasting Moonglow.
Kagura’s Verity has a Crit DMG sub-stat, and it raises Elemental Skill damage by 12% for 12 seconds when a Skill is used. It also adds a stack on every Skill use, up to three stacks, then provides a 12% boost to all Elemental DMG. The Oathsworn Eye has an ATK sub-stat and raises Energy Recharge by 24% for 10 seconds after the wielder uses their Skill.
Three Realms Gateway Offering Event
What’s New in Genshin Impact 2.5
Enkanomiya is the new area found underneath Watatsumi Island, and it was added in the last update. This time around, miHoYo is bringing new enemies and a gear item that will aid in repelling dangerous darkness in the underwater realm. All of these additions will come as part of the Three Realms Gateway Offering event set in Enkanomiya.
The gear item is called the Bokuso Box, and it will help you traverse Corrosive Darkness safely for a limited amount of time before it needs to be cleansed. The box can be upgraded and will allow you to take down certain monsters.
The new enemies found in this event are called Shadowy Husks, and they come in three types: Standard Bearers, Line Breakers, and Defenders. They each have special abilities and elements. For example, Standard Bearers can create shields for their allies if they attack a character who has a shield.
Bartending, Domain Creation, & Hyakunin Ikki Rerun
What’s New in Genshin Impact 2.5
There are a few other smaller events coming in the 2.5 update called Of Drink A-Dreaming, Divine Ingenuity, and Hyakunin Ikki. The first two will allow for some freedom and creativity while the third is all about combat and two-character team-ups.
Of Drink A-Dreaming allows players to create custom drinks as a bartender in Diluc’s tavern in Mondstadt, while Divine Ingenuity gives players the power to create their own custom Domains.
Hyakunin Ikki, on the other hand, is a returning event that has players create teams with only two characters to take on challenges. Using these pairs, you’ll need to fight against waves of enemies to increase your score and buff the characters you’re using.
