Developed and published by Amazon Games, New World is an ambitious pirate-themed MMORPG that boasts some pretty exciting features like large scale, inter-faction PvP battles, as well as various economies in settlements that are entirely player-driven. Like most other MMOs out there, this game also has tons of materials for you to farm for, especially if you want to get into the crafting system. Here’s how to get Thick Hide in New World.
Not to be confused with Thick Fur, New World Thick Hide is also a tier 4 hide material that can only be obtained from level 40+ animals. However, whereas the Fur variant could only be obtained from animals like wolves and bears, the Thick Hide can be obtained from a larger variety of animals including alligators and elk.
Getting Thick Hide in New World
The level 40+ animals are more easily found in locations like Mourningdale, Restless Shores, Great Cleave, and Ebonscale, though it is possible to encounter Frostfang Wolves at the very northern edge of Brightwood, and those are guaranteed to drop Thick Hides. Do note that you’ll need to have your skinning trade skill at level 100 if you want to be able to skin them, though.
Thick Hides are primarily used to craft Layered Leather, which you can do so at a tier 4 tannery. Layered Leather is one of the higher level crafting materials, which can then be used to craft even better armor pieces for yourself as well. However, your leatherworking trade skill will need to be at level 100 in order to make Layered Leather, and you’ll also need tons of Rugged Leather and Tannin to craft it.
That’s all you need to know about how to get and use Thick Hide in New World. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
