Rejoice, all you Ghostbusters fans out there! That’s right, a freshly cut trailer for the much anticipated Ghostbusters: Afterlife has officially just dropped, and it’s a real doozie. Feel free to check it out in all its slimy and nostalgic glory down below:
As you can see, Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be a follow-up to Ivan Reitman’s critically-underrated Ghosbusters II, and will be set 30 years after the events of the beloved 1989 sequel. In other words, this will be an official threequel in the paranormal action-comedy franchise.
Of course, that’s not including the critical and commercial failure of the 2016 female-led reboot, which has clearly been sidestepped in favor of connecting with the first duo of classic films. Personally, the less said about the 2016 reboot, the better, but I digress.
The good news for long-time fans is that it appears that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will be reprising their iconic roles once again. You can even hear some familiar voices and see some familiar faces in this new trailer. (Who’s that last voice, I wonder?)
Plus, it’s also nice to see Jason Reitman – the son of Ivan Reitman, who is the director of both of the original films – taking on directorial duties.
For a short synopsis of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, here’s an official description of the movie courtesy of IMDB:
When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is launching exclusively in movie theaters this November 12.
