The campaign of Resident Evil Village is fairly short, and you can easily knock it out in one weekend. However, there are still plenty of things you can do even after the credits have rolled. Here are four things to do after beating Resident Evil Village.
Play on Higher Difficulty Levels
Resident Evil Village is a lot of fun on the default difficulty level, but once you’ve beaten it for the first time, playing it again on Standard becomes a lot easier because you know what to expect and you know how to handle the threats. However, playing it on Hardcore or even the DLC Village of Shadows difficulty level will change things pretty drastically.
Resources become a lot more scarce, enemies are a lot better at dodging you and they’re tougher and can take more shots as well before going down. Not to mention you have to be smarter about how you’re managing your resources. It’s a big challenge, but certainly not an insurmountable one as you already know the game’s layout well; you just have to adapt to your tougher foes.
Unlock the Infinite Ammo Weapon Variants
The bonus CP store becomes available to you once you’ve beaten Resident Evil Village, and there’s a ton of stuff to unlock here. By completing various optional objectives within the game itself, you can earn CP, which can then be used to unlock cool bonuses such as weapons, as well as the Mercenaries mode, which we’ll get to in a bit.
The CP store also features weapons you can unlock, and these include infinite ammo variants of the ones you get in the game. First, you have to purchase all upgrades for a weapon from the Duke, then you can spend the required amount of CP to unlock the infinite ammo variant of that particular gun.
It’s a huge grind, especially if you haven’t been purchasing upgrades, but it’s definitely rewarding as these will allow you to breeze through the game while you’re hunting collectibles, or just want to go through the story again.
Try Your Hand at Mercenaries
Mercenaries is definitely the highlight of Resident Evil Village’s post-game content. There are four stages available, and each one comes with a hard variant. This time around, Mercenaries features some elements from Revelations’ Raid mode as well, and you can pick up abilities, buy weapons, and attempt to mow down as many enemies as possible and as quickly as you can.
The harder versions of the stages seriously up the stakes as well, and you’ll have to employ different strategies if you’re going for the highest rank. Mercenaries features a lot of replay value, and it’s just a fun way to spend your time if you’re having fun killing werewolves and other monstrosities and don’t want to have to go through the story again.
Do a Challenge Run
Resident Evil games have always lent themselves well to speedrunning, and the same can certainly be said for Resident Evil Village. The game’s shorter length means it’s fairly easy to pick up and memorize a speedrunning route, and it can be a lot of fun to try to figure out the most efficient way to clear the campaign.
Just like in RE7, there is a certain amount of RNG involved in terms of enemy and item drops that can make a run messier, but Village is all about forcing the player to adapt, and it can be very rewarding once you learn the ins and outs of the game.
You don’t have to speedrun the game if it’s not your thing either; Resident Evil games also lend themselves well to all sorts of challenge runs like melee-only playthroughs, or no damage playthroughs. There are trophies and achievements related to beating the game with only close quarters combat or under three hours, and these are certainly goals that are worth chasing if you truly want to master the game.
Get 100% Completion
Finally, if you’ve truly run out of things to do, you could always try to 100% the game. This involves scouring every nook and cranny of Resident Evil Village, hunting down all the Goats of Warding, getting every document and collectible in the game, and finding every easter egg.
There are trophies related to finding every collectible and document, so this is a worthwhile goal for trophy and achievement hunters who just want to platinum the game. It is rather time-consuming, though, and is best done on subsequent playthroughs, or perhaps on easier difficulties or with the infinite ammo weapons.
