The time has finally come. After over 20 long years, we’ve got a sequel to the photography-based Pokemon spin-off that released on the Nintendo 64 all those years ago. Coming to the Nintendo Switch, players will explore the islands of the Lental Region as they try and snap ‘em all (see what I did there?) and get the best possible photos for Professor Mirror. If you, like us, cannot wait to get your hands on the game, you’ll likely want to free up some space on your Nintendo Switch. Here’s what New Pokemon Snap’s install size is.
New Pokemon Snap Download Size
Update 04/29/21: We can now confirm that the game’s install size takes up 5.9 GB on your Nintendo Switch following the 1.1 title update that players will need to download before jumping into the Pokemon photography adventure that awaits in the Lental region.
Original Post: According to the game’s eShop listing, New Pokemon Snap will take up 6.8 GB on your Switch’s internal storage if you download the game digitally. Keep in mind, however, that future title updates could see the file size both increase or decrease.
If you choose to buy the game physically, you can expect the game to take up far less. This is because the game’s data is stored on the physical cartridge rather than all of those files being downloaded onto your Nintendo Switch.
While it’s by no means the largest install size on the Nintendo Switch, it’s still a fairly hefty amount of the 32 GB onboard storage. You can expect this with a Micro SD Card, which you can pick up cheap over on Amazon.
