Valheim has become hugely popular since its release into early access a couple of weeks ago, hitting the four millions players mark. While it’s clearly stuck a cord with a lot of players, it will not be for everyone. If you’re someone who might be interested if Valheim was playable in first-person mode, we’ve got everything you need to know about whether that is possible.
Can You Play Valheim in First-Person?
Officially, no, there is no first-person mode in Valheim. You cannot press a button to switch the camera to first-person and there is no option in the settings to toggle between different views.
That being said, you can install a mod for Valheim that makes it possible to play in first-person.
If you head to this page at Nexus Mods, you’ll find the page for it, but keep in mind that it’s not officially from Valheim’s creators and the game is still in early access so there’s no telling what might happen to other things and settings in your game.
If you’re sure you want to go ahead with it (and other players aren’t reporting any issues beyond some funkiness around bows and arrows) you’ll first need to install the BepInEx pack to make everything work, as you do for all mods in Valheim. The steps for how to do that are included in the mod’s description section too.
Then, follow the steps on the mod’s page to ensure that the first-person mod actually installs.
Of course, since the game is in early access, it’s still possible that an official first-person mode comes to the game as part of a future update. If that ever happens, we’ll be sure to update you here.
