New Sneasel & Go Rocket Events Coming To Pokemon GO This Week

Earlier today, Niantic revealed two previously unannounced events that will be starting in Pokemon GO this week. One is a Limited Research line that focuses on the Dark/Ice-type from the Johto region, Sneasel. And the other is a brand-new Team GO Rocket event featuring Ho-Oh.

Starting tomorrow, Jan. 26 at 10 AM local time, a new Timed Research will pop up in Pokemon GO. This Timed Research line will feature tasks that have to do with Team GO Rocket.

And unlike some of the recent Collection Challenges leading up to GO Tour Kanto, completing this will give you much more than just a handful of items. When you reach the end of this Team GO Rocket Timed Research, you’ll unlock an encounter with the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh.

Better yet, this Ho-Oh will also know the event-exclusive attack Earthquake. This is huge for trainers who want to use Ho-Oh in the Master League so it can deal massive damage to Steel-types and other unsuspecting opponents.

The Team GO Rocket Timed Research runs until Sunday, Feb. 7 at 8 PM local time.

It’s also important to note that the post from The Pokemon GO Team did not specify whether the Ho-Oh you get from the GO Rocket Research will be Shadow or not. Since they didn’t mention anything about Shadow Pokemon in the post, we can only assume it will be a regular Ho-Oh.

In the middle of that event will be a one-day-only Limited Research featuring Sneasel on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 8 AM to 10 PM local time as well as a Timed Research to go along with it.

During that time there will also be loads of event-exclusive Field Research that will reward you with Sneasel encounters. And if the Pokemon deities are on your side, then you may even encounter a shiny Sneasel.
