The news comes from a number of leakers over on Twitter, who have already managed to detail exactly what awaits in the patch.

As you might have expected, the new boss character is the Jungle Hunter itself, Predator. Dubbed ‘the demon who makes trophies of men,’ players should now be able to find the hostile creature somewhere on the map. Defeating Predator will now unlock the skin. Thanks to HYPEX for showcasing the Predator NPC we’ll be fighting it out with on the Battle Royale map.

The new Mythic item is Predator’s Cloaking Device, allowing players to become ‘nearly invisible for a short time.’ The effect is removed by swapping weapons, or when swimming. Thanks to Fortnite dataminer HYPEX again for sharing the find.

Elsewhere, the latest update also removes IO Guards from the Arena, so you’ll have fewer hostile enemies to take on in this mode.

The server downtime for Fortnite’s 15.21 update commenced just after 4am ET, and will likely be down for an hour or two, if previous weeks are anything to go by.

Today also sees the release of more Jungle Hunter challenge, with the fifth in the set unlocking the Predator skin itself.

The week 8 challenges also go live tomorrow, Jan. 21, putting another hefty amount of XP up for grabs to help players level up their battle pass.
