Cyberpunk 2077: Can You Upgrade & Customize Cars? Answered

Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade cars

There are a ton of different cars to be found driving around Night City and even some motorbikes thrown in for good measure. With V’s car having a number of notable tech upgrades on the inside, some players may be wondering if it’s possible to upgrade cars in Cyberpunk 2077, or otherwise customize their appearance. Here’s what you need to know.

Can You Upgrade & Customize Cars?

Unfortunately, no, you cannot upgrade cars in Cyberpunk 2077. Once you’ve bought a car that’s how it’ll always look and drive. There’s no way to increase the speed, brakes, handling or acceleration.

It’s the same when it comes to customizing how your car looks, be it the color, customizable parts, or even the interior. Everything will remain exactly the same throughout the experience, so if you’re looking for a fresh new ride, you’ll have to buy (or steal) one instead.

Keep in mind that any car or motorbike you steal you won’t be able to keep and call to you. You can only summon vehicles that you have purchased or otherwise come into possession of the keys for.

Will Car Upgrades & Customization Come in the Future?

Currently, CD Projekt Red hasn’t revealed any details regarding what new gameplay features or content will be coming to Cyberpunk 2077, be it free or paid DLC.

That means there’s a chance that car customization and upgrades could come in the future, but we wouldn’t go expecting them. We imagine CDPR will focus on more story-related content to add to V’s story, rather than adding in a minor gameplay feature such as this.

It’s not the news you probably wanted to hear, but it’s the sad reality of Night City right now. For more tips, tricks and guides, head on over to our Cyberpunk 2077 wiki, search for Twinfinite, or check out more of our coverage below.
