While the online co-op multiplayer of Sackboy A Big Adventure was delayed until later in the year, you can still play local splitscreen multiplayer in the game from the day it launched alongside the PlayStation 5. If you’re looking to run through the lighthearted levels with a family member from the comfort of your own couch, here’s everything you need to know about how to play splitscreen multiplayer in Sackboy A Big Adventure.
It’s worth noting first that the local co-op is not splitscreen in the literal sense in Sackboy A Big Adventure. Instead, you’ll both be in the same world, playing as different characters running around the same areas.
How to Play Splitscreen Multiplayer in Sackboy A Big Adventure
The first thing you need to do is turn your second controller on. Since you’ll just be playing the splitscreen multiplayer in the standard campaign, there’s no multiplayer option to select from any main menu.
Once you’ve turned the other DualSense on, a small bar will appear at the bottom of the screen showing each player’s character. The second player just needs to press X to join the action and choose their skin.
Then, you’ll be able to run around the world with each other in Sackboy’s splitscreen multiplayer, collecting whatever you want. If you’re doing it before jumping into a level, in the over-world, only one player needs to press triangle to jump into a level. One will follow the other automatically when jumping into a level.
Then, all you need to do is disconnect the controller or log out of your PlayStation to remove your character from the game. The other will then be able to carry on on their own.
