Once again, there’s a mythological quest arc weaved into an Assassin’s Creed game, and this time it takes us to the mysterious lands of both Asgard and Jotunheim. As part of the latter story, Havi is tasked with finding a Jotun witch, though her whereabouts is a little tricky to work out. Here’s an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mistress of the Iron Wood walkthrough if you need help with how to find and speak to Angrboda.
Mistress of the Iron Wood Assassin’s Creed Quest Walkthrough
Following the start of The Saga of the Snows Jotunheim quest arc, Havi must “find and speak to Angrboda” the witch.
First things first, follow the waypoint until you reach the general vicinity of her whereabouts. You will then see a quest clue that explains Angrboda’s house is “hidden by Jotnar magic.”
It’s worth noting that throughout the entire Saga of the Snows quest arc you’ll frequently have to locate hidden buildings and entrances that are concealed with this type of magic, so it’s important you appreciate how the game indicates the solution to the player.
Any time you are presented with revealing something hidden by Jotnar magic, look for a deer’s skull. You should see some yellow orbs floating around the area to signal it’s nearby. Here’s one from later in the quest arc, so you know what to look for:
How to Find Angrboda’s House
In the case of Angrboda’s in the Mistress of the Iron Wood quest, there are a couple. One is near a stone circle as you approach the large tree. It will reveal her house as being perched on the very top.
From here, move through or around the tree to the other side (almost directly opposite where you are approaching from), and find another skull, which is also by stone circle. This will completely reveal the house and allow you to climb up and enter it.
To climb, head up the nearest branch, through the house’s window, then out the opposite one and drop down to the next level. You’ll then be able to traverse around the side of the house and onto the balcony, which is (confusingly) lower than where you started. Before you do, though, make sure you smash through the breakable door and loot the chest.
After you’ve scaled across to Angrboda and spoken with her, she explains that there’s a special mead that grants immortality. For more information on it, though, she asks you to retrieve a root called Hag’s Claw from the bottom of a nearby waterfall. That’s your next location.
Once you arrive, the entrance is sealed by yet more Jotnar magic. Revealing its entrance requires the same process as before. Just look for the two deer’s heads on either side of the pillars overlooking the well’s circular stone entrance.
Once inside, there are three roots to find, which each grow by red moss. They’re a bit of a bore to go and retrieve since the cave is dark and hard to traverse. Just keep using your Odin’s Sight to ping their locations and you’ll find them eventually.
It’s now just a case of returning to Angrboda and watching the cutscene unfold to complete Mistress of the Iron Wood.
