During the opening section of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, while you’re still roaming the Norway region, Eivor will eventually have to face off against rival faction leader, Kjotve the Cruel. This is your first boss battle in AC Valhalla, and can be pretty tricky if you adopt the right technique. How to Beat Kjotve Boss in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The good news is Kjotve can be cut down to size incredibly quickly if you just bide your time. First, wait for Kjotve to charge at you and attack. You’ll die instantly, but fear not as this is supposed to happen.
Once Eivor’s back on her feet, we’d recommend locking on to Kjotve by pressing R3 while facing him. This helps to keep track of his movements and makes it easier to hit him when you go in for an attack.
The main thing you want to avoid in this boss fight is to get greedy when attacking Kjotve. His attacks are powerful and if you try and land more than a couple of light or heavy attacks on him at once, he’ll likely retaliate with a hit of his own.
If this does happen, use the bushes around the sides of the arena to gather food to heal your health. You can also gather the food from these to add it to your rations if your health is already full.
Kjotve has two main attacks. One will see him flash yellow and can be parried and blocked. As soon as you see this happen, either get your shield ready and parry as soon as his attack’s about to land. This will stagger him and drop his stamina, allowing you to get a few more hits in.
His other attack will see him flash red. This attack cannot be parried, so you’ll want to press Square/ X to dodge out of the way. After he misses you with this attack, you’ll have a few seconds to get a few quick heavy hits in.
Once Kjotve reaches half health, a cutscene will play out and you’ll be tossed into another area. This second half of the fight is the exact same as the first, so simply bide your time, get a few hits in between Kjotve’s attacks, and focus on avoiding his attacks.
