How to Catch & Evolve Amaura in Pokemon Crown Tundra

Fortunately for fans of the majestic Ice/Rock Brontosaurus-like Pokemon, Amaura is actually quite easy to catch in Crown Tundra. This is opposed to previous games where it was regulated to a slightly rare fossil Pokemon.

Efforts to spread Amaura clearly have worked in the Pokemon universe. You can find Amaura quite commonly in most of the snowy areas of The Crown Tundra. This includes areas such as Frostpoint Field and Snowslide Slope. They are visible out in the wild so just walk right up to them and battle.

Like most Pokemon in Sword and Shield, you can also possibly encounter Amaura in Max Raid battles and Dynamax Adventures as well. In this case, though, they will be much tougher to take down, and you won’t be able to catch it until it’s defeated. Bring a Fighting-type if you plan on trying to get Amaura via a Raid battle.

Evolving into Aurorus

Evolving Amaura into Aurorus is not too difficult either. All you need to do is level up your Amaura to level 39 at least, and then level up at nighttime. Simple as that!

While Ice/Rock is about as bad a typing as a Pokemon could have defensively, these Pokemon do get access to two beneficial abilities. Refrigerate turns any Normal move into an Ice damaging move, and Snow Warning summons a hailstorm any time they enter the battle.

That’s all you need to know for how to catch & evolve Amaura in Pokemon Sword and Shield as of The Crown Tundra DLC expansion. For more on the most recent expansion, check out our full review.
