As PlayStation 5’s hotly-anticipated launch closes in, Sony is ramping up its promotion of the new hardware with a global launch trailer, narrated by Travis Scott.
An article over on the PS Blog by PlayStation’s worldwide marketing senior VP, Eric Lempel, explains its theme:
“The theme of the spot is centered around the idea of exploration. There is a desire in all of us to explore and discover new possibilities, whether it’s in gaming, or in our everyday lives.
We all want to go to places we’ve never been, see what’s never been seen. We tell the story by paying homage to explorers of the past who stood on the threshold of the unknown and pushed past their limits to achieve the extraordinary.”
Sony’s PlayStation 5 launches next month, Nov. 12, in US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, while those in Europe and the rest of the world have to patiently twiddle their thumbs until Nov. 19.
In a financial call yesterday, Sony’s confidence in PS5’s commercial performance was highlighted with a bold 7.6 million units sold by March 2021.
