The first thing you need to know is that the longbow is missable, unlike the standard bow or half-bow. While those two are rewards you’ll get naturally as you complete mainline quests, you have to go out of your way somewhat to get the longbow.

How to Get Longbow in Ghost of Tsushima

The quest in question is Curse of Uchitsune, which is a mythical tale that pops up in Act One. Once you’ve returned to Hiyoshi Springs following the first few main quests, you’ll be able to talk to the musician there, who’ll give you the quest.

Just follow the quest, in which you’ll have to duel with the Tengu Demon at the end, and you’ll get the longbow as the reward. From then on, you’ll be able to use the weapon as you explore and make your way through the main story.

Since it’s a reward for a side quest in the first area of the game, you can miss it, so try and complete the quest as soon as you’re able to because the longbow has serious benefits over other weapons.

How the Longbow Differs to Other Bows

Each bow in Ghost of Tsushima is able to shoot different rounds. Once you’ve unlocked the Technique for it (called Explosive Arrow Mythic Technique), you can shoot explosive arrows with the longbow, which can cause huge amounts of damage. That is on top of the bow’s standard Heavy arrows.

Also, the longbow inflicts more damage than both the standard and half bows, and it can pierce armor and helmets from distance, rendering enemy protection pretty useless. That added damage capability is balanced out somewhat by it taking longer to aim and draw.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get the longbow in Ghost of Tsushima. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide or search for Twinfinite.
