Starting on July 27, the world’s largest retail gaming shop will not allow anyone inside its stores unless they are wearing a face covering to ensure the safety of customers and employees, at least for the United States. GameStop announced the new rule via a press release today that includes a statement from GameStop CEO, George Sherman.

“We believe this is the right thing to do to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our associates and customers from the growing spread of COVID-19.

Providing a safe environment in our stores for all customers and store associates continues to be our top priority and wearing a face covering is a simple step every one of us can take to ensure the safety of others in our stores.”

If you have any personal issues with wearing a face covering while visiting your local GameStop, you can always shop online at GameStop’s official site or on the mobile application –there’s a curbside delivery service too.

Three months ago, GameStop announced that the company would be temporarily reducing the salaries of CEO George Sherman by 50% and CFO Jim Bell by 30%, among other executive leadership roles in the company.

And back in March, when the COVID-19 pandemic first started gaining traction, GameStop closed all of its US stores to customers, following other non-essential businesses.
