Ghost of Tsushima: How to Sheath Your Sword

ghost of tsushima, holster weapon, sword

Given that Tsushima Island has been almost totally captured by the Mongols from the very earliest moments of the game, Jin obviously has a lot of soldiers to kill. That said, you don’t necessarily want to be wandering around the open-world with your Katana in hand the whole time. Here’s how to sheath your sword in Ghost of Tsushima.

How to Sheath Your Sword in Ghost of Tsushima

Yes, it is possible to sheath your sword in Ghost of Tsushima, despite the game never actually explaining that — at least, not that we can remember.

To do so, simply swipe right on the touchpad. Jin will then sheath his katana, often wiping the blood off it first if you’ve just been in combat. As you can see below, it’s actually referred to as drawing/stowing your weapon in the game — but you have to actually hold your finger on the touchpad to notice the prompt.

Again, rather like playing the flute in the game, this doesn’t really serve all that much purpose other than adding a nice little touch of realism.

After all, you don’t really want to be walking into a village covered in blood and wielding a sharp sword. The poor locals have endured enough terror from the Mongols without a ghostly samurai appearing out of nowhere and seemingly in a blood rage!

Note that if you don’t holster your weapon then Jin will typically do this naturally after a minute or so. Still, it’s nice to have the option to immediately snap out of “combat mode” according to your preference.

That is everything you should need to know about how to holster your weapon in Ghost of Tsushima. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to check out Twinfinite’s detailed guide wiki.
