Epic Celebrates 350 Million Fortnite Players With New “Party Royale” Mode

Epic Games has touted a new milestone for Fortnite today. The incredibly popular battle royale game now has 350 million registered players, a number that the developer/publisher thinks calls for a party. A premiere in-game music event tomorrow, May 8, at 9 PM ET, will be headlined by deadmau5, Dillon Francis, and Steve Aoki.

But Party Royale itself won’t be a one-off. Epic describes the new island location as a permanent spot for players to not only watch live events as they air but also to return to at their leisure.

What is Fortnite Party Royale? Party Royale is an experimental and evolving space in Fortnite. Leave your weapons and mats behind and hang out with friends, play games and enjoy live entertainment. Catch live shows. Race around obstacle courses by land or sea.

Go fishing with friends, perfect your skydive, and get up close and connect with some of your favorite artists. Hop on the party bus and enjoy the ride.

Party Royale follows on from Fortnite’s Travis Scott concert, which smashed concurrent player records not only for Fortnite but for any game ever. The 12.3 million figure beat out the previous 10.7 million held by last year’s Fortnite Marshmellow concert.

Twinfinite has since published an article fantasizing about other Fortnite in-game music events likely to exceed even Travis Scott’s performance.
